Barnabas' Thoughts

Barnabas watched from the Old House as the stranger walked with Angelique towards Collinwood. The man looked familiar, but he couldn't place him. And what was he doing with Angelique? He could tell from where he was the man was no peasant. He was monied. The cut and material of his clothing, the cape he wore, and his boots said he was wealthy. His carriage suggested aristocracy. Watching them closely, they looked they looked as though they were sharing an intimate secret, and Barnabas felt the small seed of jealousy begin to grow. Angelique was his. She loved him. It didn't matter that he didn't love her... Oh what was wrong with him. Where were all these foolish thoughts coming from. He was married to the woman he loved, and had almost lost thanks to that heartless witch, Angelique. She had almost tricked him into marrying her, but it had been foiled at the last moment. But now, seeing her with that stranger --

"Barnabas!" Josette called interrupting his trecherous thoughts of what was the beginning of a jealousy that could only be understood by one other, and that was Angelique.

Very short! Just a thought as to how Barnabas would feel at seeing Angelique so intimately engaged in conversation with someone like Duncan McLeod.
