An uncomfortable silence hung heavily between Jeremiah and Victoria on the drive into the small village of Collinsport. Jeremiah paid no attention to the modern conveniences of this day and age. He expected the technology to be different. The intangible objects that would have been deemed witchcraft in his day fit in this time. He welcomed the silence that invaded the automobile. He needed to time to try and comprehend what was happenin to him. Deciding it could not have been Angelique, because according to Victoria, in his time, there had not been any mention of Angelique. So, what was or who was it that was trying to rob him of his sanity -- no, that was not the right word -- someone was trying to prevent him from doing what he had to do at the Old House.
And now he had met Vicki in this time, and he had wanted her as much now as he did before, and he had taken her again without her consent. She thought he was Burke Devlin, a name that was not unfamiliar to him, she had told him all about Burke Devlin the first time they met.
And now he was going to meet Barnabas, and make sure Victoria never saw him again. He didn't know why or how he knew, but he knew this Barnabas Collins was the only Barnabas Collins, and that was his nephew. It had to be some kind of witchcraft, and he would not let Barnabas destroy Victoria the way he had ultimately destroyed Josette.
Jeremiah knew Victoria was confused and upset with his behavior or Burke's behavior, and he would not tolerate the look of victim from her, until it destroyed her. She belonged to him, and that was the way it was. Nothing was going to change that.
"Victoria, pull over, and stop the car. We need to
talk before going to meet Barnabas."
