"Oh my god, Burke, what are you doing?" Willie wailed, grabbing at Burke's
leg, the vampiric blood threatening to soak the leg of the pants Willie was
holding. Willie couldn't allow this, he felt like he was dying watching his
master being destroyed. Maggie was crying softly, as the destruction continued.
He had to do something. The powerful vampiric blood from the pits of Hades was
dripping onto Willie's wrist, where the fresh wounds that Barnabas had made,
and refused to close so he would never forget who his master was, begin to suction
the drops of blood, and Willie felt power course through him. It was dark, black,
and an ancient power that was overtaking him, and he almost forgot what was
going on in the little cell so entranced was he by the changes taking place
inside him, and the destruction of his master that was taking place inches from
him. Shaking himself out of the ancient trance the dark blood was causing he
reached up, and hit Burke with a powerful blow in the back of the leg, causing
the man to drop the mallet, and giving the vampire the microsecond he needed
to grab his executioner, and Willie watched as the deadly fangs begin to sink
in Devlin's throbbing carotid vein by the neck. Willie unconsciously begin to
lick his lips, as he watched what Barnabas was doing. He could smell fear, he
never questioned how it was possible for fear to become alive and palpable as
a living being, but that was how it appeared to him. He couldn't tell if it
was Burke or Barnabas who was the most afraid, because he could detect fear
coming from his master, and it seemed stronger than Devlin's who was about to
die. Willie reasoned it was the blood loss that was causing Barnabas' fear,
he just knew he had never seen the powerful vampire show any emotions other
than anger or blood lust, so it was a little disconcerting for him to see it
so clearly. Did he see it? He wondered, yes, he did. Then something very odd
happened, and Willie was unable to help this time, it's all he could do was
watch the strangeness pervading the cell in horrific fascination.
