Oh my god, what's happening Julia thought frantically as she felt herself being sucked into a vortex that was swirling and twirling, and it was so loud Julia thought her eardrums would pop. Being a doctor, she thought her blood veins would burst with the pressure that was pitching her forward into this tunnel that was getting louder and darker. Julia couldn't see anymore. She was frightened, more frightened than what Barnabas was doing to her to drive her out of her mind. Barnabas! He was doing this, but how? She had underestimated him before, she would not do so again. Her mind was in turmoil. She had been engaged in a seance, and Sarah had spoken through Vicki after that ruse that Carolyn and Barnabas had tried unsuccessfully. Her thoughts could not overcome her fear. She was trying to be logical, and then all of a sudden silence!
The silence frightened her more than the sound of the deafening wind. She couldn't see, and now it was so silent. Then she was jerked so hard, and flung forward she could almost hear her bones crunch from the force, then as quickly as she was jerked it stopped, and the light after the encompassing darkness was blinding, and she reflexively closed her eyes. Adjusting to the light, and now she could hear something also. It sounded like birds, and outside sounds. Very slowly she opened her eyes, and quickly after glancing at herself, ascertained she was fine, not even rumpled. Only a microsecond had passed. Julia expected to find herself at the table, and the seance, but it was not so, she was outside of a house. A mansion, in fact, it looked very familiar, but where -- where did she know this house from? Oh! It was the Old House! But, no, it couldn't be, it looked new and fresh. The shrubery and trees were trimmed and looked manicured like the lawn that spread out in front of it.
Walking to the front door, very hesitantingly, she finally knocked with the Lion's head knocker that seemed to be the Crest of the Collins Family. Finally the double doors opened, and Julia held back a gasp. It was Barnabas! This could not be. It was daytime, and he was dressed so funny.
Her thoughts were interrupted by Barnabas asking if he could help. All she could do was stare at him, she couldn't get over the fact that he looked so different and he was up in the daytime. It was a trick, another one of his tricks to try and drive her out of her mind. He would do anything to get her journal. Her thoughts were tumbling one after the other, as a little girl came up and called to Barnabas.
Sarah! Julia exclaimed.
