Julia In Charge!

1795 Collinsport Inn

Lighting a cigarette and handing it to Julia, Nathan inhaled his deeply, as he stroked the hair ever so gently of the lovely woman beside him. She was fire incarnate. He knew no woman would ever satisfy him again. And also she was very intelligent. She had seduced him, and tricked him with her treachery to bring her to his room. At the word "treachery" he smiled, because she was a treacherous vixen.

"Julia, when Barnabas was choking the day Josette arrived, how did you know to do -- what did you call it?" Nathan asked the smiling doctor.

"Oh that. My father was a doctor, and I used to go with him on his rounds to his patients, and when one would be so sick with one thing or another or would get their windpipe crushed my father would cut a hole, and insert a piece of wood or something with a hole in it, so they could breathe until the windpipe healed. It's called a tracheotomy.

"Now, dear boy, don't concern yourself with such things, " Julia said laughing a low throaty laugh, reaching for him.

"Oh, one other thing, I like these, smoke sticks. Where do you get them?" Nathan asked returning her embrace.

"Later, " Julia said, as he kissed her.

On the way back to the Old House, Julia had time to sort her thoughts about what was going on. She had ascertained very quickly that Angelique was not what she seemed, and with some very stealthy sleuthing on her part, she had discovered some very odd objects in the servant's room. When Josette had arrived and Barnabas was overwhelmed by her presence and her aristocratic beauty, Julia had watched the jealousy on Angelique's face, and the hatred for Josette could not be hidden from
Julia. She had spent too many hours being jealous of Josette, and hating her, so the look on Angelique's face was like an old friend.

She also knew that that bastard Barnabas had told her one helluva lie on Widow's Hill the night he told her of Josette and his "elderly" Uncle Jeremiah. That was a joke, and if she ever got back to her own time, she would confront him with that one! Ha! What else was a lie? And who made him a vampire? She was betting it was Angelique. The objects that she had found were used for witchcraft, and when Barnabas had been choking, the doctor in her went to him and did what she would have
ordinarily done, not realizing that she had placed herself on Angelique's "to get rid of" list.

Angelique would need to be watched, Julia thought pursing her lips. Barnabas and Angelique's affair had stopped Julia had noticed since the arrival of Josette and her father.

That troublesome Countess might come in handy, Julia was thinking as they arrived at The Old House.

"Now, Natie, cut that out," Julia scolded the handsome young Lieutenant, as he was kissing her ear, and dusting light feathery kisses on her face.

"Barnabas! Let us in. We know you're there." Roger said almost desperately.

"Go away! He ain't here," Willie said.

"Yes, he is. I saw him in his coffin this morning," David said, and got the expected result.

"Well, good evening," a very nervous Barnabas Collins said as he answered the door.
