"I wish to ask you one thing before you speak to us of these, as you called them, technological advances," Barnabas said.

Eliot indicated for him to continue with a nod of his head.

"Since we are apparently in the future, perhaps you can tell me what her future holds, or rather, held for Josette?"

Eliot remembered the legend that Josette killed herself in grief following the death of her husband, Jeremiah and the departure of her fiance, Barnabas, for England. But as soon as he grasped the memory, it flickered and died, to be replaced by another memory.

"She was my great-great-great grandmother." Eliot responded. "She married Ben Stokes in 1797. Their love has become the subject of legend. In fact, a popular novel of the 19th century was about the romance of Ben and Josette Stokes."

As a warm smile crossed Barnabas' face with the knowledge that his beloved found someone who could love her like she deserved, Joshua started to stammer, "B-b-but -- Andre would never allow his daughter to marry a common criminal like Ben Stokes."

"Well, the fact is that he didn't allow them to marry. They eloped. Ben Stokes also wasn't a common criminal. Unfortunately the proof that he'd been framed didn't come to light until after his death. 1965, in fact." He gave the others a half-smile. "I found the proof myself."

Just then, the front door opened and a woman's voice called out, "David? I know that you're here somewhere!"

The other four looked at Eliot inquiringly, and he stepped forward to greet the slim dark-haired young woman. "Good evening, Miss Winters!"
