Subj: A Gypsy's Plight

Well this is another in a long line of "it's not really fanfic, but it could be" poems. I basically wrote this as part of a series of poems I'm working on about the holocaust, but I think it works on a certain level if you look at it as Julianka's plight. For the sake of it being fanfic I changed only the title. Count Petofi could be the equal of the Nazis I describe here, though, so here goes....

she silently dances, a wild
silken rainbow igniting the
gutter's cold womb.

entranced by her soul-song,
her body becomes music,
a swaying story of life among demons

once sacred footsteps are
sacrilege made manifest in
the dust of disapproval

hidden shadows mourn as
the death-knell of hatred
strangles her rainbow's fire
