I have always thought the minuet was a perfect dance for Julia and Barnabas, literally and figuratively, so here's my written take on that dance.....

Minuet

Silently they dance in the darkness,
Hand to hand, yet
Never truly touching;
Words unspoken, emotions too
Fragile to be acknowledged
Linger in the flickering candlelight
An invisible testament to the
Reality that denies their
Needful desire for each other.

They dance together,
Moving as one, one
Soul shared throughout
An eternity of time, two
Hearts yearning for fulfillment
Beyond the entwining
Circles of their destinies.

The music weaves their
Story into the night, speaking
With a passionate voice that
Struggles to be heard but
Is silenced by evil’s
Dark enchantment.

Long into the night they dance,
Each unaware of the others
Guarded thoughts, unaware that
Their feelings are one within the
Confines of the ancient
Minuet-they dance, barely
Touching, yet spiritually
Joining in the intimacy of a
Lover’s gentle embrace.

The stealth arrival of the dawn
Startles them, forcing them to
Part, lovers only in the dreams that
Haunt them both so
Painfully until the evening
Returns and they can again become one
In the eternal dance
That exists between the
Darkness and the
Light.
