THE DEVIL'S CHILD
"Nicholas!" Angelique screamed. She looked upon Nicholas and Eve in a passionate embrace in his bed.
Nicholas nearly threw Eve from the bed at the sound of Angelique's voice. "How COULD you!?" She screamed at Nicholas. She shot an angry look at Eve.
Angelique's face was a mask of shock, and disbelief.
"Wait, Angelique!" Nicholas called to her.
Angelique quickly left the room, and the house as well. "Oh, Nicholas, you act so VERY much like a mortal man!" She spit the words as she spoke. "And you think you are far superior!" "You are no better than the rest of them!"
Angelique walked, and walked the streets of Collinwood. Her heart was aching now, as it had for so long. It ached for the man she knew she could never have. A man who had told her repeatedly how much he hated and despised her. A man who lived in an old house, which had no electricity or telephone, and that was identical to that same house , as it had been over two hundred years ago. Barnabas Collins, you must love me." I shall make you love me!" Angelique said.
Suddenly, she found herself at his door. Her heart was beating faster now. She tried the door, it was open. Slowly and carefully she opened the door. She saw no one, at first.
Then, Barnabas came down the stairs, and saw her in his house.
"What are you doing here?" He said in horror.
"Good evening, Barnabas." "I see you are looking well." She smiled at him.
"What kind of torture do you want to put me through now, witch?" He asked in despair.
"Why, Barnabas, I do not wish to harm you." "If only you could forget our unpleasant past." "Can't we be friends, Barnabas, very good friends?" She asked, still smiling at him.
"I shall never forget what you did to me and my family; and to Josette!"
She started up the stairs toward him, very slowly. "I shall make you forget, Barnabas.
"Stay away!" "Do not touch me!" He yells at her.
"You shall forget all the pain and sadness, Barnabas." Angelique told him. She touched his temple with her fingertips.
Barnabas looked very strange for a moment. He stared right past her for a time.
"Barnabas? How do you feel?" Angelique asked him.
"I feel fine, Angelique." "How are you?"
"I am well, Barnabas." "I shall feel much better once you and I get together, Barnabas." She says with a wicked smile.
"What do you propose we do, Angelique?" Barnabas asks.
"Well, Barnabas, you could start by building me a nice, warm fire." "Then I shall sit next to you, and I shall let you kiss me."
Nicholas was in a rage. "You should never have come here, Eve!" He threatened. He grabbed her by the hair, and looked at her sternly.
"Then I'll leave, and come back to your bed tommorrow." Eve said.
"Noooo!" "You shall not ever come back here!" He threatened. He pulled her hair tightly as he spoke.
"But you and I are made for each other!" She complained.
"No! We are not!" "I told you before, Eve, your future is with Adam, not me!"
"You swine, Nicholas!" "You have your way with me, and then you throw me out!" "You are just like all the other men I've known!" "I could kill you!" She screamed at him.
He was still holding her by her hair. "You will not kill me, Eve. You will go upstairs." "You find Adam." "You tell him how much you love him!" He tells her. His dark eyes are now casting a spell on her.
"Yes, I must find Adam." Eve says. She gets up from
the bed, and quietly
leaves the room.
Nicholas began to pace the room. "Now where do you suppose Angelique has gone?" He says aloud to no one.
