An Unexpected Surprise
Dr. Halstead, continued to be a favorite not only at Wyndclffe but also at Collinwood.Hoffman was starting to see he was a genius as a doctor not to mention as a human. To her she had never met such a good man. Julia,as she was , questioned if this man truly as he portrayed himself. But time bore out this information . She observed him closely to see if she should promote him to her Assistant Next in her to her at Wyndcliffe She had approached him on the subject and to her display he declined the position. She wanted to know why.
Jeffrey reminded Julia not only was he a doctor but a human and a man. He had devoted his whole life to his patients .He savored life and he didn't need the money. In fact he actually wanted to cut down his hours, and seek professional counsel from Dr.Hoffman. For he too, was finding it difficult to build a relationship with someone and sought her advise in that regard. He felt she had matured to a point in her personal life , wherein she was now strong as a human and a doctor to give professional advise. Halstead was a man of remarkable honor and virtues and sought those out who personfied that. This time in his life he wanted a home life and a family to honor and love .He wanted to seek out a woman with good virtues. He loved the Collins family and he saw Elizabeth Stoddard as such but just didn't know how to begin and begged Julia for professional advise as a doctor in help to overcome this weakness. Halstead wanted to court Elizabeth with the intention if she had feelings for him to marry such a woman of goodness and fine virtues but he needed help . When he thought about doing it he became ill but it was just it was new for him it was so difficult. So Julia agreed to treat him to overcome his inabilities to do so.
Julia agreed but was disappointed that he had cut down on his hours at Wyndcliffe. He was the finest doctor they had at the hospital. It actually sadden her in one aspect but she was happy for him in his personal life goals. She could not deny him that. He told her to just add additional staff the hospital was doing well and could afford to do so.
