Matters Within and Devils Advocate

The things that matter are inside the heart. Jewels or material possessions though may they be lovely and ornate seldom replace the beauty from the gift of life and the soul. Julia had a copy of a story by O'Henry called "The Magi," in which husband and wife loved each other so much they sold their most valued possessions to buy the other a gift for Christmas because they loved the other. The idea of love and sacrifice remained a thought always on Julia's mind. Yes, Barnabas and I can give each other gifts. But none are greater than the chance of happiness to live with each other as husband and wife. No greater gift had ever been. That was the gift, a chance of a happy enriched life with each other. "I will make him happy as long as I have breath in my body," thought Julia. "I love him so, he is my life, my love."

Julia replied to Roger, "Is everything ready for Barnabas now,".

"Yes, " replied Roger, "I do hope my cousin will be pleased."

Julia had managed to sneak away from Barnabas for a few minutes.

"Well, Julia," replied, Roger, how does it feel to be married? Its about time , Barnabas made a honest woman out of you and a Collins too," he laughed.

Well, "Roger, I am still thinking this is all a dream." Replied Julia.

Dr. Halstead, came over to Barnabas , and said, " I see you lost your wife again. Is she tired of you already,?I don't blame her, the way you took her for granted all those years. Its good he has wised up and left before its too late. laughed Halstead."

Barnabas countered and snarled at Halstead jealous again, "I tell you , you will pay for this does you understand if anything has happened and you have done anything to ruin my marriage , you shall pay dearly. Do you understand ? Barnabas started to be frantic and to look for Julia.

Halstead turned around to Barnabas and replied, " I have grown accustomed to your snarls , Barnabas, they are so becoming to your personality and so well suit you. Be assured nothing has happened to Julia. I like to play devil's advocate with you. But for this I am serious never take your wife for granted as you have done in the past, she deserves better."

With that Halstead walked about from Barnabas leaving him in deep thought. Halstead was determined that Julia nor any good human be taken for granted, so he was determined to make Barnabas aware, regardless of how Collins would react.
