The wedding of Nicole is about to begin in a few hours. Barnabas began to think back into time about his fie Julia . In the back of his pocket he pulled out a poem, which has always been in the back of him mind about his wife.
Mr. Rochester's Poem from Charlotte Bronte:
"The truest love that ever heart
Felt at its kindred core
Did through each vein , in quikened start.
The tide of being pour.
Her coming was my hope each day
Her parting was my pain;
The chance that did her steps delay
Was ice in every vein
I dreamed it would be a nameless bliss
As I loved, Loved to be
And to this object did I press
As blind as eagerly.
But wide as pathless was the space
that lay, our lives,.... between...
And haunted as a robber path
Through wilderness or wood
For might and Right, and Woe and Wrath,
Between our spirits stood.....
Barnabas thought, "Julia, I was so unaware those many years, through all those obstacles, I longed to see you every day. But I refused to see it..How could I? You were always at my side, my dear, so loving, I longed to see you each day... I could nto be without you my dear." "I missed you so when I wasn't speaking or sharing with you. How could I have not realized that I loved you so much when i was willing to die for you.. OH yes , I do I would not let go a part of myself know you my dear in a romantic sort, My Julia, my life and best friend who I would die for and confide in and protect. Maybe, i was afraid to divulge my sould to you my love?"
After Barnabas and Julia hd come back from their sojourn in 1840 and Barnabas was cured from his condition as a vampire, Julia and Barnabas remain still very close friends. However a few things had changed. Julia reactng to the gentleness Barnabas had displayed to her became more warm and more open to all, including Barnabas displaying a very soft gentle side. Julia felt more human, soft, and feminine went to Carolyn Stoddard to ask her with her help about dressing less businesslike and more of a woman. Carolyn was more than happy to oblige. So Julia began to do her hair, her makeup, differently as well as her clothing, and jewelry to where it made her look more seductive and alluring. She wore more colors like the golds and brown knits, or silk dresses, more flattering to her figure. For the first time, Julia has enough time to smile and display some sign of enthusiasm and life. On her own accord, she began to take an interest in taking long walks and observing the ocean below Widow's Hill, attended art galleries and became intensely interested in impressionistic art, and classical music, often listening to it and smiling as she listened to it. The most shocking thing of all the changes was her keen interest in picking up literature and poetry books and reading them and starting to see what beautiful stories they shared about love and life. Her eyes glowed with a brilliance beyond imagination...
So the Dr. Julia Hoffman now carried herself with a more seductive walk, a brilliant smile, and enthusiam displayed in her round large almond eyes .....All around Julia began to look at her differently, icnluding the male doctors she worked with around Wyndcliff. When Julia walked men looked.... Because her heart and beauty f the great great lady was showed itself to the world... not hidden anymore.. In her profession she was a minority and surrounded mostly by male doctors. They noticed her and she truly sensed her femininity as well as the fact of being an accomplished doctor. However, she began to have a new problem in that many of her counterparts were now interested in pursuing her as a woman, and often would ask her out and offer to dance with her? Even Roger Collins began to think of her differently. When she would be at Collinwood Roger would be there quite attentively to Julia staring at her, complementing her, and had even asked her out to various events with him like the theater. Knowing she and Barnabas were just friends, she started allowing Roger to take her to the theater, and take her dancing....One evening outside from one of those events at the New House, as Julia and Roger had listened to classical music, they ventured outside. Roger had put his around Julia and kissed her and outside the terrace beyond the shadows one man watched Julia as she was being kissed by another man. Barnabas as of late as of the others, began to see Julia quite differently. He was attracted to her seductiveness and beauty, but didn't know how to approach her. He had never thought of Julia with any other man not less being kissed. As Barnabas watched he became frantic, jealous, and his blood surged. He didn't want Julia with any other man. He couldn't bare the thought of any man having Julia, for now he realized he loved her truly.
It was the next day after this that Barnabas Collins on his knees went to Julia and proposed marriage." Julia, i have been such a fool, you are a good sweet and beautiful woman with a passion of life. Would you do me the honor of being my wife, my dear?"
"Of course," replied Julia. "I love you, so, that I know without you my life has no meaning, You are my life my dear, never without you."
Barnabas looked at his wedding band, His life was complete He had his beloved Julia, his children, and now was looking into the next generations of Collins with the marriage of Nicole. The estate had been restored to its beauty of 1795. His life was complete. Barnabas thought. Barnabas thought about the rest of the poem, and his life with his beloved Julia.....
"My love has placed her little hand
With noble faith in mine,
and vowed that wedlock's sacred band
Our nature shall entwine.
My love has sworn with a sealing kiss,
With me to live -to die
I have at last my nameless bliss,
As I loved- loved am I !"
