Upon the hills of Collinwood, one stood in total awe and in defiance of any event that had ever taken place short of a spectacular event at Collinwood. The wedding of Nicole and Charles was about to begin at the Old House but it was to be quite the most unusual wedding in quite a while at the Collins Estate. Nicole and Charles being creatures of the romantic era and very child like, decided to recreate a 18th century mood for the wedding including their clothing. Not only did that extend to them but to all the guests too. Nicole's wedding gown was stitched 18th century pure satin with a low cut neckline, with modest amounts of hand embroidery. Charles wore his ancestor's wedding garb from the 18th century. Julia and Barnabas had special garments made reflecting this period to indulge their daughter and new won in law. Nicole and Charles had agreed to reside permanently at the Old House after their marriage. Charles had gone to England to bring back special family jewelry that had been part of the familles for generations, some of which for Nicole to wear at the wedding, including he wedding rings.

The grounds had been restored to their beauty of 1795. Furniture for the Old House had been ordered from Europe for the unfinished rooms had been left to be restored and furnished mostly with items from France and Italy. This doing was mostly Barnabas' and Julia's. who wanted more of a European flavor to the house. "How exciting," said Barnabas., "to think of the future generations of Collins living here, it is such a dream, Julia , to have a house full of our own family and the continuance of the future generations here. Julia, it is too exciting to believe, hold my hand, my dear, my beloved."
