Nicholas Blair turned around staring at Barnabas with a big wide grin on him. Nicholas had planned to make despairing remarks to Barnabas when he was temporarily distracted by the presence of Julia. Roger had actually understated the change in Julia. Blair remembered Julia as the matronly type, the new Julia caught him off guard. Julia had the scent of the sweet perfume, her red hair dangling in curls, her large brown eyes could have easily have seduced any male close to her. In her appearance, she had a blue silk dress with a low cut neckline. Her walk had changed and was more slow paced, her demeanor in her face was soft less confrontative than prior years. She was more charming than she had been formerly. In here conversation, she was able to carry small talk better than she had been formerly. She talked about the ocean, the sky, instead of being confrontative to Blair about the situation, she gave him a sad look. Julia remarked, "t has been so sad around Collinwood since the disappearance of our daughter. The Old House seems lonely without her presence. The sound of singing, laughter, and music has gone gone." Blair was smitten by Julia like a love struck boy. his plans to harm the Collins was confused by this new attraction to Julia. Blair was so smitten by Julia he excused himself and picked flowers outside and gave them to her. Julia for a small moment smiled, then became sullen again. Barnabas distraught over Nicole , however turned his attention to his wife , he was becoming insanely jealous of Blair's attention to Julia. Barnabas took hold of his wife and snarled at Blair, "Don't you have better things to do than to pursue married women. Keep your distance from my wife I would like to know about my daughter's whereabouts if you don't mind Blair. I am convinced that you are somehow involved with this. Blair looked at Barnabas and replied, "Barnabas, your wife deserves someone better than you. If I were you Collins, I would be watchful of some man not trying to snatch away your lovely wife."
Barnabas was usually a contained man. In this particular instance he was so enraged and forged in fury beyond imagination. Julia turned to her husband and softly touched with arm. Julia motioned Barnabas into the next room. She looked at her husband with her soft gentle eyes and reassured him by giving him small kisses. "Barnabas, calm down, I love only you and always will. Nicholas is trying to torture you my love. Don't let him irritate you. Remember he still has our Nicole somewhere. There are other ways to deal with Blair. We just need to proceed with caution here. I think we should go home and deal with this in the morning."
"Julia, " replied Barnabas, " I am sorry , my dear. You are just so beautiful, my love, if anything happened to you I would just be lost. I love you that much." He reached out to his wife, looked into her soft eyes , held her and kissed her. They walked home to the Old House and looked upon the smiling faces of their sleeping sons. Reassured, they made their own way to their bedroom to reassure each of the love they felt for each other.
