Day has fallen at Collinwood. In the midst of a calm day terror lurks. A sense of melancholy prevails. Barnabas and Julia sense a new terror just waiting for them. They know the presence of Blair means danger.
Elizabeth Stoddard knocked on the door of the Old House. In her hands she carried a letter. She replied, "Barnabas, I have a letter for you to be read in the event you daughter disappeared. I just stopped by momentarily to drop off the letter."
Reluctantly Barnabas went over to the table and read the letter aloud to Julia:
Dearest Mother and Father,
Please be aware I love you and have been honored during my lifetime of your influence. I watch the love you have for each other and am doubtful I will ever see such two devoted people again. Be sad not that I am gone. I have endowed you with the same powers of the supernatural I have. They are to be used to save not to hurt. I fear that in the event of my disappearance Nicholas Blair is responsible for foul play and that I may be trapped in another time. Please come over and bring me home.
