Arriving at the Old House, Julia immediately put the girl under hypnosis, the Freudian part of Dr. Julia Hoffman Collins, confirmed what she had feared to be a ghost of her past revisited to Julia, she and a surprised Barnabas found out this child had been through what it looked like as a small child had been taken from its mother, kidnapped, tormented, and somehow escaped getting lost in the woods, the girl screaming , "Mother, " Julia horrified at this revelation asked the child what the mother's and father's names were. The young girl answered, "Julia and David." In horror at this point, Julia fainted for than one reason. Julia's ex-husband was none other than Dr. David Woodard, a well hidden secret from Barnabas and the rest of the world. The horror and guilt stemming from Julia's and Barnabas' roles in Dr. Woodard's death compounded this agony for them long thought gone and buried a thing of the past. Barnabas' level of guilt and remorse was intensified so, he was looking at the girl whose father he had murdered. Barnabas, turning those painful thoughts aside thought only of Julia to protect and sustain her from the pain and reunite her with her daughter. Thoughts of guilt continued to consume him and Julia of course was so laden with guilt and pain, she fainted. Nicole was frantically crying. Barnabas did all he could to reassure the crying child and at the same time revive his wife. Upon revival Julia brought the child out of the hypnotic state, and of course neither of them said anything to her about the revelations that had just transpired. How could they deal with the horror and the guilt; the cold blood of Dave upon them? Julia of course put the child a state where she would remember nothing about what had transpired. The only thing said was that they had wanted to help the girl and Nicole said she had no objections in that regard. For that night Nicole was put to sleep in Julia's and Barnabas' room, they spent the whole night with her with a watchful fearful eye to assure her safety.
The next morning, NIcole awoke she was surrounded by the warm faces of what appeared to be that of Barnabas and Julia Collins. At first she thought this was a dream, but remembered she had come home with Mr. and Mrs. Barnabas Collins the prior night.
