For the longest time, Dr. Halstead had been a mystery to Barnabas and Julia. For many years, Barnabas was so jealous of Halstead, that he could hardly contain himself. Barnabas had questioned, Dr. Halstead's goodness, but now trusted the man without question.

Julia had always trusted Dr. Halstead, for his actions were always consistent and of a good man. Barnabas over and over thought of Julia as a compatible match with this type man, not himself. But he knew that Julia loved him so. How lucky he thought, he was to have Julia as his wife.

Nicole had recovered fully now, and Charles for hardly a moment would let his wife out of his site. He was that devoted to her. Nicole, enchanted her husband, and showered him with extra affection and love. She teased and spoiled him so. The two young people were so in love with each other.

Julia, meanwhile still back to the time of when Nicole was a thirteen year old girl babbling about the classics. That memory of Nicole was a real as though it were now. Her little girl, even to the logical Julia, was her little daughter. Julia's only daughter was her treasure next to Barnabas.

Julia's feelings about her daughter, went back to Nicole's birth. Ever since Nicole was small. Julia had always loved her so. Nicole adored her mother, and protected her even when she was little. The two were quite close. Nicole had always watched Julia from the back corner of her eye, always watching to make Julia was happy or been in pursuit of something which gave her life meaning. Nicole had been delighted of her mother's choice in Barnabas as a husband. For that enough, Nicole was protective of her mother from a distance. If Julia wasn't happy, Nicole would take note, and approach Julia. It was true Nicole was spoiled beyond belief by both Julia and Barnabas. They treated Nicole as if she were a queen. That special feeling always stayed with the child into adulthood. And Nicole, despite some of her actions loved her parents beyond imagination.

What was Julia's passion for this little girl never remained a mystery? She loved her but was firm with her also, since Nicole had a propensity to be emotional like her father Barnabas. Julia thought of the great joy of loving a child. How special that feeling between mother and daughter was. And she always felt Nicole was special. The name Nicole itself, means "Victory." From the first time, Julia held her baby daughter in her arms, she always wanted to protect her and love her. She smiled with happiness at the little girl. Nicole, always smiled and laughed looking at Julia for approval. None of that had changed into adulthood. Nicole would always glance at Julia looking for that special approval for her mother. And it gave Nicole great delight to look at her parents laugh, smile, with her brilliant eyes. They always never when Nicole wasn't that, she was troubled. And unfortunately, throughout the years, the ghost of Woodard haunted Nicole. And apparently, Nicole now an adult wanted to face him, to end her misery.

Julia hadn't been pleased Nicole hadn't disclosed her intentions about confronting Woodard, but she could not blame her daughter. She loved the girl but had to impart to her the importance of telling their immediate family about such intentions. Because, not doing so, caused Nicole great harm, and potentially put her life in danger as well as others. Julia would have to continue to work closely with her daughter to make her understand by fighting Woodard alone was not a wife course of action. Nicole had known better but chose the wrong course of action. In fact, Nicole almost lost her life. And meanwhile, the ghost of Woodard was now loose on the Collinwood estate. Unfortunately, Nicole could feel she would take on ventures herself rather to tell others. This had to be stopped and Nicole would have to learn to do this, no matter what it took to get through to her.

Much hard work lay ahead for Julia and Barnabas with their daughter. If she were only small again. It would be so easy. Having a child with supernatural powers was not easy, especially one who was protective and emotional as Nicole.
