The Mystery of Dr. Halstead Uncovered
Dr. Jeffrey Halstead , III, had been a long time mystery of many of Collinwood. Barnabas in part, of all people was the most curious. He had been wondering for years why Halstead was an enigma. Now Barnabas was about to find out Dr. Halstead. Jeffrey called in Barnabas and Julia into one of the rooms at the Old House into a private discussion.
"I am but a humble servant in life. My time like all who are mortal, is short, and not eternal. I have known you Julia , since our days at Cornell, where I was a very quite dedicated doctor, not a brilliant student like Julia but one who would devote my life to helping man as a doctor. But my origin, is different than with most. I am here in Collinwood to fulfill a purpose. Of course, since I am married to my lovely Elizabeth, of whom I eternally love and am devoted to, the Collins are a great concern to me. But even before my marriage to Elizabeth, I was destined to guard the Collins family in certain respects, mainly Julia and Nicole."
" I do not understand , how you know of Nicole, you had not seen Julia for many years," replied Barnabas.
Halstead continued.."I was formerly a angel from the heavens, more so a guardian angel of Nicole. I was sent here on earth to see that Nicole was safe so that The Oracle would be fulfilled. It is that important to the survival of the Collins family. It was your mother Barnabas that cried to the heavens for someone to help you. Her prayer was heeded. Julia by fate was predestined with her strength of character to be your wife. And Nicole, although she is your adopted daughter , still is a Collins , be it be adoption is of no concern. She, and her little boy , Bryon will be protectors of Collinwood. That is why it was not her time to die. Charles was correct in her resurrection. That Little boy, Bryon , will be quite important to Collinwood. Not only to protect the your father , Barnabas, but also to protect , Charles Collins family. He has his own ghosts in his closet. He is the only survivor to his family, his parents were killed by fire, but by evil forces who have plagued his family. Charles is a good man full of virtues, and also deserves to be protected. Be not surprised if evil not only comes from this Collinwood, but also follows Charles here. He can't escape or hide here. The spirits will follow him from England.So, you see , it is of the utmost importance that everyone is prepared for a battle with the supernational. Nicole must never do what she did again and try to fight these forces without informing anyone. I leave it to you and Julia, to understand this , and to make her understand , she needs more prudent in her handling of such situations. I trust that this will not be a problem for you , it is that important. I know of your past , Barnabas, I know who Woodard is. I know what and who you were. But as I said, I am here to help you. I have and always will be here for you. However, I became a mortal when I decided to court Elizabeth for marriage. It was also my destiny to wed her. I love her and gladly gave up everything to be with her. It was an easy choice. But when , I did that, I lost all my powers and became an ordinary man. But I was certainly happy to see Barnabas finally love Julia. She always loved you so , Barnabas. Your secrets are safe with me and will remain with me until I go to my grave. I always will be there to help you , no matter what. I only ask one thing, if I die or should I become ill, please swear to me , that you will watch over Elizabeth and our son, Peter. Promise Barnabas."
"Yes, I course I promise, " replied Barnabas.
