Barnabas realized that Nicole had that special gleam again in her eyes that she had when she always became excited. Of course, they discussed the meaning behind the passage of what she had read. Both Nicole and Barnabas shared an academically stimulating afternoon by their intense discussion and Nicole's reading of the passage from the Aeneid. Barnabas was hoping that Julia would be joining them shortly during their discussion, so she could Nicole was exuberant. He wanted Julia, his beloved, to join them in this family event, for it was joyous. He wanted Julia to see her daughter's brilliant eyes, how happy she was. Barnabas was extremely concerned about Julia, her feelings in general during this ordeal, and in general. He longed to be near his wife and see her beautiful brilliant eyes glazing at him.
Nicole enjoyed the discussion with her father, yet realized that her father longed for the company of her mother. He was that much in love with Julia. She was utterly delighted.
"Father, I see you miss mother, why don't you go to her and ask her to join us. Or, you could go get mother, and I could talk to Justin, about how fun is to fly a plane and become a pilot."
Once in a while, Nicole loved to tease to get a reaction from people. So, she thought she would interject that remark about flying to see her father's reaction. She couldn't resist. Luckily, her mother, wasn't around, or she would have been admonished by Julia. Nicole, was a pilot of small planes, but had promised her father she would give up that hobby for a while and take up something safer since had an accident in parallel time and almost died. And she wanted to see her father's reaction to her influence over his brother to this particular subject.
Barnabas , however this time, was insightful to his daughter's teasing.
"Nicole, why don't you get your mother, and tell her your plans to turn your brother into a pilot. I think your mother may share some meaning dialogue with you as a result."
For if Julia had heard this , after Nicole's recent turn of events, Nicole would have never heard the end from Julia after being so thoughtless with her words, even if teasing would cause, her father to be upset and Julia to be upset too. Julia would let little of this type irritate Barnabas, he was the center of Julia's universe. And Nicole knew if she unnecessarily caused her father undue distress, Julia would be supportive of Barnabas'.
"Father, I was only jesting, I am sorry, If mother heard me teasing you like this I would never hear the end of it. She always stands behind you, father."
"Well, Nicole before you say unnecessary words that may be in jest but may cause distress you may want to guard you choice of words. Something to think about my daughter. I love you so you know. If anything happened to you, Mother and I would in great sorrow. You are very special to us, and you are very much loved. Think about what impact you make on what you say. Remember you have Charles now, he is very sensitive and may also take this the wrong way, and get upset Nicole."
" I want to encourage you to be happy, but lets continue
to challenge our mind and enrich
our soul, shall we, my daughter. "
"Also let's see if we can take up safer hobbies during your pregnancy than flying small airplanes during winter storms."
"Nicole, why don't you concentrate on your music again on more of a full scale,"
" I think we can arrange to have a piano for you here at the Old House permanently, would you like that?"
"Yes, I would love that!"
"And for Charles, we can set up a room for his painting
in the house, a studio, do you think
he would like that?"
"Oh yes, father he would. I think I shall discuss that
him. But I will tell him you were the one
that suggested it."
"You love Charles as a son don't you?"
"Yes Nicole, both Mother and I love him. He is a good decent man, and a good husband to you. He is devoted to you Nicole eternally. And we know you are devoted to him too. Mother and I are happy to have you both in the house. "
And then Barnabas grinned, "Mother and I are excited about having your son Nicole, in our house. For we love you so much, how could we not love our grandson so. This is quite a happiness we are looking forward to my daughter. So keep my grandson safe will you?"
"Yes, father , I shall."
Smiling, both daughter and father had missed Julia's company. And so they departed to find Julia so that she may join them. Both missed Julia that much. And Nicole was hoping to find her beloved Charles too, whom she adored.
