Barnabas and Julia had ventured toward Collinwood to visit Dr. Halstead in regard on his opinion about Woodard's ghost.
Elizabeth answered the door, and invited Barnabas and Julia in.
"Barnabas and Julia , so nice to see you, Nicole and I have seen much of each other lately. She has asked for my help in locating tutors to be housed at Seaview when the baby is born. By the way, have you seen Seaview lately, its quite lovely, and coming along quite well. Adam is thinking about moving into the house, as its chief occupant. Nicole has made a generous offer to almost give unlimited rights to live in the house. Nicole and Adam seem to have made nice restoration plans at Seaview. Adam is currently planning to open a medical practice in Collinsport, and Nicole was thinking about joining him in his practice. Of course , Charles wishes to remain at Wyndcliffe. Anyway, my husband, Jeffrey and our son , Peter are in the library. Peter is reading to him from one of the ancient classics."
Barnabas turned to Julia with an angry look in his eye. Both ventured into the drawing room to talk to Dr. Halstead.
"Jeffrey, my dear," replied Elizabeth , "you seem to have visitors, Barnabas and Julia have come to talk with you."
"Barnabas and Julia," replied Jeffrey, Peter and I are almost finished with our lesson."
"Go ahead Peter, finish your recitation."
Peter Halstead continued to recite from his reading of the ancient classics:
"The Georgics
By Virgil
Written 29 B.C.E
Georgic III
'Thee too, great Pales, will I hymn, and thee,
Amphrysian shepherd, worthy to be sung,
"You, woods and waves Lycaean. All themes beside,
Which else had charmed the vacant mind with song,
Are now waxed common. Of harsh Eurystheus who
The story knows not, or that praiseless king
Busiris, and his altars? or by whom
Hath not the tale been told of Hylas young,
Latonian Delos and Hippodame,
And Pelops for his ivory shoulder famed,
Keen charioteer? Needs must a path be tried,
By which I too may lift me from the dust,
And float triumphant through the mouths of men.
Yea, I shall be the first, so life endure,
To lead the Muses with me, as I pass
To mine own country from the Aonian height;...."
Peter concluded with a big smile on his smile and a nod of approval from his father , Dr. Halstead.
"Peter, you did a fine job reading that passage, I have to confer with your cousin Barnabas and Julia, anyway, its time to get ready for bed, go to your mother and say goodnight to her."
"Yes father, replied Peter.
Peter excused himself from the room for the evening.
"Its nice to always see you Barnabas and Julia. I haven't seen you for a few weeks now. I hope all is going well with Nicole, Charles, and the baby. And I hope your boys are also doing well, they seem to like to challenge my Peter in mastering the ancients readings to see who is the most proficient at it. Sort of a family challenge there. Anyway, has Woodard's ghost returned in the last few weeks? I still am fearful of Woodard's ghost being a threat to the estate."
Julia replied, "Barnabas and I are concerned about Dave's ghost harming our grandchild or someone here in Collinwood."
Halstead closed the doors to the drawing room.
"Julia, and Barnabas, I assume you want my opinion on this matter as that is why you are here?"
"Yes," said Barnabas, and apparently there is more we don't know about with Nicole and Adam , apparently. Tell me what you know of this."
"The first matter and the one of most concern is of the ghost, That is the most immediate threat to our family, All of us are in danger. I suspect that Woodard is after you Barnabas, or angry with Nicole. As I told you before, I was formerly , Nicole's guardian angel. I saw the child when she was born, when she was kidnapped. I watched her grow up but was not allowed to interfere. The one thing that I was allowed was to get her away from Nicolas Blair, to the woods away from him, where she was found by the authorities. As much as you can say against Dave. He was a beloved family type doctor in the community and a good human being. He was loved here. Apparently , however when he was on this crusade against Barnabas to turn him into the authorities as a vampire at Collinsport, he would listen to no reason at all, and something inside the man's mind snapped. He went from a loving man to one determined to destroy you at any costs, Barnabas. And you at that time were in state of a animal, you were not the Barnabas, you are today. Julia, who loved you protected you. I suspect that Dave is still trying to avenge his death, and angry with his daughter to become yours, knowing what you did. I imagine he is angered by that. But it is not for him to judge but the forces of heaven to do so. And you have done nothing wrong by adopting Nicole, she loves you greatly. I suspect there may be several ways to deal with this. We can have a seance, call back former ghosts back to protect you, or letting your children use their powers to combat Woodard. I am more experienced with this, since I formerly know many of the spirits personally. I believe if I call to them they would protect, and subvert Woodard. However, Julia's diary about the experiments must be kept safe. If they were to fall in the wrong hands I am very fearful. And as far as Adam is concerned, since you have more immediate problems , the only thing I will say to you in this regard is to keep Adam And Nicole apart from each other. He fell in love with her when they were in parallel time. And who knows , something unfortunate may happen between them and tear both Houses here at Collinwood. Angelique and Blair as you know are not too far away, and could cast a love spell."
"I think this discussion should be moved to the Old House if you don't mind, Jeffrey. You could also talk to us more privately, and to Charles and Nicole if you don't mind," replied Barnabas.
"I don't mind at all Barnabas, I will just let Elizabeth I am going and I will get my coat."
Jeffrey said good-bye to Elizabeth and the three ventured toward the New House to strategize a war plan to thwart Woodard's ghost.
