Barnabas Collins pondered in horror about going back into time. This was the first incident he could recollect outside of Nicole, where he actually went back into time down Quentin's staircase to save the life of his son. He wondered would he ever be free of his past. For years, had been good to him, but once again , the cruelty of his past caught up with him. What is his pain for his past sins that he thought were long gone? Not so , apparently for him. A sense of misery and dispair overwhelmed him . What his forget just for a moment , that Julia who was always watchful of Collins, refused to let him suffer alone. She would do all in her power, for him to to suffer . It made her too remember the pain of the past, of 1840. and other times, where Barnabas in 1840 , had declared his love to Angelique, one of the most painful times of her liife, not to include Roxanne. Julia, was always considered the devoted friend. She too remembered back to the horrors of those days, and her internal sadness she kept contained within her heart. Julia had always said that destiny was cruel to Barnabas Collins. Perhaps she was right. Once again, the Collins couple found themselves in conflict , this time at the hands of their youngest son.

Barnabas looked at Julia "Julia do you remember when Justin was young?"

"Yes , I do , he was the sweetest and most handsome little baby with blond hair and deep dark brown eyes. Barnabas, he always used to follow you by side and would never leave your side, when he was little. He used to look at your with his big brown eyes, and think you were wonderful without questioning anything you said or taught him. Oh, how our children change, like Justin, as he grew into manhood, he forgot your teachings and now is in a stage of rebellion. Oh, Barnabas, I can't stand the fact he may never be with us again."

"Julia, you forget one thing. I love you and always will . You are my life and my destiny my beloved. I will do all in my power to bring your youngest one back to you with no harm. Please believe me when I say that Julia, I think you should for your own safety stay behind with the others . Its too dangerous for you . I may revert back to vampirism and the influence of Valerie and Judah Zachary. The loss of you Julia is too much for me to comprehend. I can't face the agony of life without you. Life would never be the same for me, my Julia, I love you so! And the lost of my son, oh no, Julia I can't stand the pain, please help me! " cried Barnabas as he knelt on his knees sobbing.

What Barnabas didn't tell Julia is he was fearful that NIcholas Blair might follow them back into time and try to steal Julia away from him. He was jealous of Julia because Blair had in recent years been interested in her.
