Barnabas Collins paced the room back and forth thinking to a great extent for a long period of time. He knew that Justin was also a younger clone of himself, and it was difficult for him to have seen the gravestone at Collinwood with his son's name. For almost two hundred years he had thought it was impossible he would ever find happiness, as it had eluded him. His existence was mere survival and loneliness until Julia. And the thought of him having a family years ago, would have been foreign to him during his existence as a vampire. After his cure for his affliction, and he had married Julia, slowly he began to believe that he could live the existence of a normal man. And despite the passage of sixteen years, he remember holding Justin as a baby in his arms, as though it were today. How proud he was when his sons were born. And holding his own son cradled in his arms, he felt a sense of love and warmth of a father. A sensation that he had never experienced. The bond of love between he and his son, Justin were firmly rooted at his birth. His sons were Collins and were to continue the family name UNTO THE GENERATIONS. His seed, of which he had always thought impossible during most of his life, would carry his name Collins and heritage with them. There was a special love in being a son of Barnabas. Barnabas was a devoted husband and father. The birth of his own sons, made him glow with such an happiness of someone who had been lost and reborn into life. He was that proud of his boys. And the boys meant something special for him, they were a reflection of the extensive love he felt for his wife, Julia Collins. When he looked at Zachary, he saw much of Julia. And probably for that fact, he was often less harsh in life with Zachary, than Justin. Barnabas thought Justin a younger version of himself, and didn't want his son with his intense emotionationalism to make the same mistakes that he had. So often, he would be more rigid with Justin, that Zachary. Justin, ignored that fact, and was emotional anyway, but he truly loved his father. As a little boy he practically idolized his father. Of course, Julia's influence had much to do with this. She always made it known to the boys that their father was first, and she loved him so, she would do anything to make him happy, and would agree with him on most issues not because he was right but because Barnabas and Julia had mostly the same outlook on life and issues especially regarding family and life. She was an emotionally supportive to Barnabas. In return, Barnabas was very doting to Julia in front of the boys, especially Justin, and would back up what Julia had told the boys. In the old days, Julia had been an extremely friendly but reserved person, but with own family she was very demonstrative to them . She also , like Barnabas, felt a deep love for her boys. They were a reflection of the love they felt for each other. And that was very special for them. Julia, when the boys were little often hugged them and had rocked them to no end when they were babies. On the reverse, she loved them both. She at her age in life, was quite surprised that she could have children, and the fact that she loved Barnabas so much, had his children made life more rewarding for her. She often put her hands through her boys hair when they were small , for many years she still was amazed that the boys existed at all. It was like a dream to her come to life. And Nicole Collins, the eldest child, loved the boys, with all her heart. Barnabas remember those days by the drawing room, with Nicole as a young teenager with her bright eyes, and the boys small about three or four sometimes, listening in front of the fireplace about the tales of Collinwood their father would recite to them. It was often Justin, at these times, fell asleep on his father's lap, during some of these narrations. He would sleep but cling very close to his father , hugging him then falling softly asleep on his lap. Zachary usually managed to be bright eye and just smile during these times, with his dark brown eyes, happy, and hugging Julia, as these tales of the grandeur of Collinwood were expounded upon. As a mother, Julia felt a warm sensation, happy, and a gratitude for her family. Barnabas and Julia would always see the boys this way, despite the years that had passed , when their sons were little in the drawing room. This warmth would remain with them for a lifetime. Barnabas remembered Julia's face, when Justin started to read at the age of four . He actually was reciting poetry elegantly. She was shocked. He , like his father was able to recite stories, and read aloud in front of the family in the drawing room quite a proud young man. Julia indulged in dressing the boys in little sailor suits when they were four. So watching, Justin recite a poem dressed as a sailor was so sweet and appealing to her heart. And it was at the age of five that Barnabas commissioned oil paintings of his sons to done, and hung in the Old House. Barnabas sadly brought himself back to the present and looked at the painting of his five year old sons. He started to cry. He ran into the arms of his wife sobbing, and with her present urged her immediately for them to go to Zachary who was in his room. Without any warning two sobbing adults, Julia and Barnabas both took their son, hugged him, and held the boy in their arms, as though he were the last precious treasure on earth.
