Sometimes life could be cruel in its expectations of others in life. So it seemed sometimes. Barnabas looked at Zachary, and wondered if indeed over the years he had been too harsh in his treatment of Justin Collins. Since the disappearance of Justin, guilt consumed Barnabas in his treatment of his yougest son. If only he would ever see him again, things would be different he promised. He would treat both of his sons equally, not favoring Zachary over Justin, he vowed. Zachary was what the Collins family portrayed him as the perfect child, he was amiable, respectful, and very eager to help any of the family. Collins family pride consumed this young man, and was was eager to help any Collins who needed any aid, for he loved his family deeply. Zachary was known to have a maturity and wisdom far beyond his years. In many ways, Julia considered him to be more mature than Nicole who was fourteen years his elder. Nicole and Justin were the offspring of Julia known to be highly emotional and sometimes irrational in their decisions. That was a known fact at Collinwood. They took after their father in this
respect. Those children followed the footsteps mostly of their father Barnabas in personality traits and in life long pursuits in the realms of passion, the Collins family, and love.

Zachary totally perplexed in his parents arrival into his bedroom, began to question his parents.

"Mother, Father, what has happened to make you this sad and come to me this way You seem to be in pain and agony, my parents. Please do not be sad. Please tell me what is wrong so that I can help absolve you pain. "

Julia momentarily stopped crying and shared with her son.

"Justin, your brother has disappeared and wrote us a note. He has gone back into time. Your father is highly upset about the situation and fearful that some harm or even death may come to your brother. We had warned him about the consequences of going back into time, and he didn't heed your father's advise and he still decided to do it anyway. If only we had known his true intent, we would have tried to remedy the situation before this happened."

Zachary, sadly lowered his head next to his parents. He felt ashamed for not sharing with them the fact that he had known for a long time about Nicole and Justin going back into time. He had dismissed it and not done anything with the information. And now guilt also consumed him for not telling Julia about Justin's or Nicole's intent.

"Mother, replied Zachary, I am so sorry I should have told you about Justin before, it's partially my fault. I have known about this for a long time , but Nicole assured me that she would protect Justin, and that no one would be harmed from such a feat as going back into time. I never thought about Justin going back himself without Nicole. In fact I never thought Nicole and Justin , would do anything apart, actually. I am surprised he did this without telling even her. Does she know? he replied.

Barnabas, heartbroken, quickly gained composure, looked at his son

"Zachary, I am surprised at your carelessness in this affair. Surely, you know by not telling your Mother or I about this, your brother is in grave danger, not to mention the entire Collins family, Frankly, I thought I have taught all of my children better, and they would have heeded my words. It saddens me at this time to think that my words would be heeded in my own family, and yet they go unattended and to think of my own flesh and blood not following the values that your Mother and I have tried to instill in all of my children. All of you, Justin, Nicole and you Zachary have been careless. Tell me, son, where I have failed in teaching you better than this?"

Is Life So Paramount

Do I love thee let me gaze upon your lovely face
Tis I know above the stars of heaven do I count
Beyond paradise do I see
I call unto you .

Does virtue and love doth bestow
The Universe call out into infinity among the stars
Till I call you .,, life shall be so paramount.

A poem written by Barnabas Collins to his Wife Julia.

What was happending at Collinwood was very surprising. Barnabas had not realized that Nicole was going back into time and was himself preparing to make such a adventure. He was firm in his decision Zachary would remain behind and stay with Elizabeth S. Halstead at the New House while this horror was going on.

Barnabas was determined to have a conversation both with Elliot Stokes and Dr. Halstead in reference to lastest disaster at Collinwood. Julia, also was determined no that no new horrors come to any more of her children, made Zachary swear he would not go back into time regardless, for his own life was at danger, No matter what he saw . The elders of Collinwood would deal with this, and he should remain safe. For they would be going back into time to find Justin. They didn't realize what Nicole had also done. And with the passage of time travel anything was possible, and imaginable.

Barnabas was still in conversation with Zachary, while Julia made her way on the New House to visit Dr. Halstead. One more time on her way to the cemetery she looked at the gravestone of her son. Julia knelt down and cried. As she was making her way up from the graveside, she noticed a fresh new grave next to Justin's, it was that of Nicole Collins , also who died on October 23,1840, one week after Justin's death. Julia, horrified about Nicole, mourned also for her. Julia ,realized at that point, that Nicole had gone after Justin.. And Julia was determined to go to her without Barnabas or the counsel of anyone before any more deaths would occur. She just didn't have time. She gathered her medical bag, proceeded to the New House to the West Wing. She encountered Elizabeth and Jeffrey Halstead , making a comment she just needed to see something in the West Wind and she would be down shortly. She was doing some historical research she commented. Elizabeth thought nothing of it, Jeffrey was a little bit perplexed, nonetheless, he dismissed it as nothing at the moment.

Julia also proceeded up to the West Wing, and went to Quentin's staircase. Luckily, it appeared to her. She quickly, went up the staircase, and found herself back into time to what appeared 1840, as she had sixteen years earlier. She hoped it wasn't too late to save Justin and Nicole. As she made way down the staircase in 1840, she thought of her love for her husband Barnabas, and prayed that he would forgive her for going without him. But she thought until her dying day, Barnabas was the love of her life, and she would never stop loving him through eternity. She hoped that he would not be too far behind her.
