Barnabas stood dumbfounded at the latest development at Collinwood. Julia was gone,and her wedding ring found. Barnabas remembered Justin's gravestone in the cemetery but didn't understand why Julia left without him. But they had discussed long ago, that if Julia wanted Barnabas to follow her she would leave him a sign behind like dropping her wedding ring. That was a sign to him that she was in trouble and he was to follow after her.

"Willie," go get Zachary, replied Barnabas , I want to talk to him now".

"Barnabas, do ya really think that is a good idea, you might worry him about Julia. I mean you could scare him too much . That might not be a good idea Barnabas, he's just a boy."

"Willie, go do as I say , and get my son now!" I am not interested in your opinion at this moment , I am worried for Julia, and my son Justin. Get him now."

Zachary scared entered the drawing room in the Old House in front of his father and Dr. Halstead.

"Zachary, I don't want to alarm you but something has happened to your mother, and I need your help to find her. Can I count on you for your assistance, You are all I have left my son. I need your help, and I need you near me, for I fear I may lose you too."

"Tell me, Zachary Collins, my son, did anyone else know of this idea to go back into time other than Justin. "

"Well father, Nicole and of course Charles. Charles tried to talk us out of it, and Nicole was against that. So he was Nicole were still in discussion over it. He wanted to tell you father, but he didn't want to go against Nicole, his wife. He was truly torn, Please do not be angry with him."

"Justin, how long has your brother in law and sister known of this litle plot to go back into time?"

"More than six months Father, they were just going to tell you they were going on their honeymoon while they went back into time. Charles was to stay behind and join Justin and Nicole, after they had been gone for several weeks. I told them I would be no part of this, because I knew it was not the right thing to do , Father. Nicole warned me if anything happened to her, and you ever reverted to vampirism I was to continue the experiments Mother had started to procure the cure for you."

"You know of your Mother's experiments?"

"Of course , Father, Nicole is determined for nothing to happen to you. She stumbled across Mother's diary years ago, I was to follow its contents and save you no matter what or go to Dr. Halstead if Mother was unavailable ."

"Who has the diary Justin?" replied Barnabas frantically.

"Why Nicole, Father," replied Justin.

"Have you ever seen the contents of your Mother's diary? Do you know the contents of the diary?"

"Well no, Father I have never seen the diary, but Nicole said unless it was an emergency that she would hope the diary for safekeeping. And she stressed the importance of no matter what I read in the diary, I was to do the experiments and to love and protect you. She didn't you or Mother to be tortured with your past, for we had known how you have suffered in the past. We love you to much to cause you any more pain Father. Nicole, stressed the importance of never letting Mother's diary get out our family's hands, no matter what. For the price could be costly to you and Mother. At all costs, Nicole stressed were we to protect you and Mother always , no matter what we had to do for that to happened. I made her such a promise. We would die for you Father, and for mother,we love you that much."

"Where is your sister, Nicole, Justin if I may ask? . I know Charles is at a medical conference in Boston for several weeks, retorted the senior Collins.

"The last I knew Father, is that she was at Seaview doing some writing,"

"Justin, in the meantime you change your clothes to something from the past probably 1840, I have some clothes from that time. Take all your identification from your wallet, and put on my onyx ring I wear, for if your Mother, Zachary, are in that time, they will know to protect you. Now go son, and then go with Dr. Halstead, and wait for me at Collinwood. No go. I shall go to get your sister and then I will come to you. "

Barnabas left the Old House and went to Seaview. Thereupon he knocked on the door but there was no answer. He entered the house himself to look for his daughter but found she was no where to be found. Perhaps, he thought she was a Collinwood visting Carolyn or Elizabeth.

Barnabas left seaview and ventured through the woods. He past through the section of the family cemetery where his son's gravestone was. He stopped to look at it again, and what he found he was aghast was that of two more gravestones, Nicole Collins, and that of Julia Hoffman Collins. Barnabas fell to his knees weak , and cried upon Julia's grave."

"No, I can not lose Julia. Without her , my life is meaningless. I must go to her and save her. No, Julia , I can not lose you , do you hear me. I will not let life deprive out of your love, no matter if it costs me my own existence. Julia, hear me , your Barnabas is coming to you, no matter what.!"

Leaving at Collinwood without his family was unreal to him, and the happiness and family life with Julia , give his soul sustenance.

No, he was determined , he would go back for his wife and children, regardless of Angelique, Gerard, Blair or anyone else, or the vampirism. He loved his family too much.

With tears in his eyes , Barnabas hurried through the woods at Collinwood prepared to get his son , and go up Quentin's staircase and save Julia. He hoped it wasn't too late.
