A blast sounded from the corridors of the Collinsport harbor nearby.

Gerald Stiles had set up a distraction to be near Nicole Collins.

He had heard stories of her isolation, and had been smitten with her the first time he had seen her. He too, was concerned about what her depression or isolation seemed to concern. So, he had put on one of the ships in Collinsport dynamite, so it one of the ships would explode and cause a distraction, so that most of Collinsport would be there, leaving him an opportunity to be near Nicole Collins.

What he found amazed him, a once beautiful outgoing girl now the deamonor of an old spinister or old maid. He was revolted beyond. Her beauty, her glow, once present was gone. Gerard was like any normal man attracted to physical beauty and her appearance repulsed him physically. His lust and desire for Nicole was gone astray in all regards. He too had found her on the bed unconscious. But his remedy to the situation differed from the others. He was convinced that Nicole was unhappy, and Julia of all people seemed to have the greatest influence over her. He, like Barnabas, for a more selfish purpose , was determined to find out more about Nicole Collins, and how he could manipulate Julia Hoffman into winning Nicole. He needed to find Nicole's husband, and dispose of him, once and for all so she could be soley his.

Meanwhile, the Old House in 1840 was empty due to the explosion at the Harbor, and Quentin's staircase appeared with its newest arrival, that of Nicholas Blair.
