Subj: Unto the Generations Part 28

Barnabas entered the halls of Collinwood frantic and in a state of freezy, devoid of any rational thought. Julia was in the drawing room, drinking some tea relaxing.

"Julia, I need you to come with me immediately, its Nicole,she's ill and needs your immediAnd then I have a problem with Angelique, and Justin, I don't know where the problems stop, Julia. But first we must attend to Nicole."

Justin Collins made his way to Seaview, and saw Nicole quite ill. Franticly, he sat next to her.

"Nicole, Nicole, please come back to me."

He took her arm, knelt down and cried. He also felt a vague pulse ,and checked her respiration. It was slight, and apparently she was running a high fever. He suspected from the neasea that perhaps she may be with child . She had become this ill while pregnant with Byron. He remembered that. He didn't remember though during that her prior pregnancy she quite ill, but didn't
remember is she carried this high fever she had. But he told a compress, and laid it over her head, and continued to monitor her respiration. And he laid her head on two pillows, and made sure that her clothing was not too tight.

Barnabas wasn't around, so he suspected that Julia was not too far from Seaview, and would attend to Nicole shortly. But he knew she was quite ill, she was sweating profusely, and still remained unconscious.

Barnabas and Julia arrived, and found Justin to be with Nicole , at her bedside crying. He was fearful she may die. Life without his sister, he couldn't envision it at all.

"Mother, I am glad to see you" replied Justin.

A lost soul, Justin ran to his mother, hugged her tightly like a little lost boy with tears rolling down his eyes.

Julia looked into her son's eyes intently, hugged him, ruffled her hands through his hair with loving eyes.

"Mother, I love you, despite anything I may do I love you dearly, and Nicole. Despite all obvious appearances, I do love you and need you. I appreciate you Mother. Mother, without your love and devotion... and now Nicole, oh Mother, please help her. She's quite ill, her fever is high. I have taken her vitals, and laid a cold compress over her. It's possible, she could be pregnant again. She was quite ill during her pregnancy with Byron,

"Mother, please don't let Nicole die.

Barnabas stepped in.

Barnabas interceded, and took note that Julia needed help.

"Justin, come let your Mother attend to your sister."

"Julia, " replied Barnabas, "is there anything I can do to help you with Nicole, here let me be with you to comfort you, during this. Please do not be alone in dealing with this Julia. "

"Justin, you may also come and be nearby. Unless your mother says otherwise,"

"Barnabas, I need to examine Nicole privately, and change her clothing and put her into a gown. After , I shall let you know something"

"But Julia, I want be with you, you need me. Look at you Julia, you are human, we have always been friends. let me stay with you."

"No, after the exam Barnabas", Nicole may indeed may be pregnant and ill.

"Julia, you forget, she is my daughter too, even though i am not from your time, the Barnabas, who is your husband is the child's father. I care for the children, Julia I know they are mine. Do we have any more children together in the future?"

"Yes, Barnabas, I am sorry, of course you care for Nicole and Justin. As I said , let me examine her medically, and then you may come in , I promise. Justin will answer any other questions you may have. I must go to Nicole."

Julia went upstairs to Nicole. While Barnabas , and Justin waited downstairs near the window overlooking the ocean downstairs.

"Justin, look outside the window you can hear the waves of the ocean. Isn't the ocean spectacular, the rocks jagged edged below the cliff, the clear blue ocean, and thesky clear? Today the ocean is calm , Justin. Just look. Each wave from the tides is different. It has a different mood with a different story to it. Boats have come many centuries from the outside world
to the harbor of Collinsport. It was that our ancestor Isaac Collins came, one almost could envision his boat coming into the new world founded the town of Collinsport in the sixteenth century. We, Collins, have been here for the generations, and seem to survive. Our family has a history and a heritage to share, my young Justin. And hopefully , centuries from now, the Collins family will still be here in this town, as it has been for the centuries. Strong prosperous and healthy. The Collins family has a role in history, and a strong heritage. Despite our problems, the Collins do have a love for our family. You must understand that my young boy and remember that. And despite the horrible things you think about Barnabas Collins, your father, always remember that, above all. You should not judge him, but protect your family. That is what being a Collins is."

" I am sorry, I will never say such things again. Sometimes, I hate to see Mother suffer. It was hard for her to come back to this time, after she and Father have been so happy. This is very hard for her. And she loves you, and is just trying to be your friend in this time. And now since you have this knowledge, she knows you hurt and feel in conflict. Mother above all people loves you so much , she never wants you to feel in pain, and wants you to come to her out of love, not force. I am sorry, I shall be supportive of you. It is hard for us being the children of Barnabas also to see this, but we understand we must not cause you pain. For that I am sorry, I hope you understand."

"I have seen Angelique. She is quite beautiful and alluring. Any man would be attracted to her. I, like you , have also seen the parallel time room, where your counterparts are, and just remember that Angelique's counterpart, Catherine is far from the character of Angelique. Catherine , is a loving firery woman who apparently still loves Bramwell , but is torn by her love in that time. The two women are not the same, and you are not Bramwell, just remember that. But you will come to your own conclusions as you see things for yourself."

"Yes, Justin , I have seen the parrallel room, with my counterparts, and the love they share for each other. The passion. I.....am confused. And during this time, It is no secret i have felt passion for Roxanne, for her kindess, gentleness, and before you came Justin, Angelique , was beginning to change, or seemed to be somewhat. I am very confused, and I know you love your Mother, this must be difficult for you."

"Yes, it is, Angelique is beautiful, but remember what she had done to Sarah. And your Mother , Barnabas, how she drank the poison. And Josette, who ended committing suicide at Widow's Hill, for Angelique tortured her so, and made you a vile creature she loathed. She could not bare eternity. Think of it Barnabas, one who denied you the life , and love, and hope of love and family, you were cheated out of in your life. I know you are a man , and maybe lust for her,but remember her history and ..... I will stop I have said enough. I support you whatever decision you make, and I hope you will allow me to be a
part of your life, regardless."

"Of course, Justin." I love you, I want you to know that. Your Mother is so wise and understands me, and is patient with me. I love her as a friend for that. And she knows I need time to think .She is a wise . I do know she loves you and Nicole,
do not forget that."

With that, Barnabas approached Justin, hugged , and consoled the crying boy.

"Justin, please, we are here for you.Your Mother will do all she can for you sister."
