Julia had been correct in the fact that certain things that were to come to pass in 1840, wouldn't change. Angelique released the curse from Barnabas, hoping that would cause him to love her, and Gerald Stiles was frightening Angelique so, that her focus shifted from Justin's Collins demise, to her mere survival, from Gerard Stiles, Meanwhile, Barnabas for the first time in years, saw dawn, and was so excited about being a man who saw the light of day, he forgot many of the things he had said to Julia, and became grateful to Angelique in 1840, and his feelings for her were one of gratitude. Julia had not cured him in 1840, but more Valerie and she claimed no expectations in return from Barnabas other than the fact she loved him. But this time, Julia did not say anything to Barnabas about why they came back in time, and this time she didn't mention she had feelings for him, that she cared for him , and didn't want to see anything happen to him, when Barnabas mentioned to Julia, that he was surprised Angelique had given him life back as a mortal man, he was grateful, and he wanted to share his feelings with Julia. Julia however , turned her back on his gratitude, and just listened to him without saying a word. Back in 1840, the first time, she had said so many things she regreted, that she questioned why Barnabas would trust Angelique, and what was the purpose of them coming back, and yes she forgot, "They needed to be alone, Rather than were man and wife."

This time, Julia, listened to her friend Barnabas but completely held back all emotionalism she felt about how she cared and loved Barnabas, and with an expression from him , he basically stopped her from telling him , that she loved him. He had rebuked her and she never forgot the pain of that. Instead, she allowed Barnabas Collins , his indulgence, and also allowed Nicholas Blair to befriend her while she was feeling all the pain.

The biggest change though, was when Barnabas' curse was removed,Justin still remained a vampire, and was harder to control. Barnabas lost his ability to control his son, and once he became a human, neglected his family, due to his enthusiasm with seeing the dawn of day. Julia, took over Justin's care, and made sure, he at night hunted prey, and fed upon the blood of animals, and learned to control any urges to kill or prey humans. She also gave him blood transfusions. and watched over him closely. But this was short-lived, Barnabas, lost in her own emotionalism , and his new freedom as a man, and gratitude, shifted back focus to his family after a few days. But after a few days, Julia had depended on Nicholas Blair for friendship, as he did nothing to hurt her or the children. But befriended the family. Julia still didn't trust Blair, but he had through some miracle brought Nicole back to full health, and had in fact protected Nicole from Gerard Stiles. For that Julia was grateful. She still loved Barnabas, but wanted to continue her relationship with him as a friend, so that Barnabas could sort his feelings out for Angelique, as the time was meant to be, or was it? Julia could be wrong, but could be in denial about it.

In the meantime, Nicole had brought Julia's diary back with her in time, Julia and Nicole had set a laboratory in the basement and tried to resume the experiments on Justin that would free him from his affliction. They had been successful for Barnabas in 1971. So it was hopeful that as a matter of time, that Justin could also be cured. He seemed to be responding to the treatment.

Nicholas Blair did make amends to Nicole Collins for kidnapping her as a child. And he begged her to forgive him, for that injustice he did to her, and to accept his apologies, and of his gift of the restoration of her health. He hoped in time, she would forgive him. NIcole was very undecided about such a request, and did not give Blair an answer . She would have to think about it. But Nicholas hoped that by making peace, at least, he could make personal amends for the horrible thing he had done to Nicole , when he kidnapped her from Julia as a small child of three. And Julia thought Nicole dead. And the two were lost from each other until 1971.

And Justin Collins, became a different person. He during this time, matured and took life more seriously, and gave his rebellious demeanor up. He continued to call upon Carrie Stokes on a daily basis, and the two quickly fell in love with each other. And he wished to marry her when she was of legal age. And without prompting from Julia, he asked to resume his studies for the preparation of his career development. Julia compiled. and she set up a course of study for him. Nicole tutored her brother, Julia assisted, and Julia went to Barnabas requesting his help in tutoring his son in the humanities. And Barnabas was enthused with this request and father and son became closer. Barnabas still was able to defend Quentin at his trial, but he attended to the needs of his son. And his feelings for Julia remained strong and he loved her and his family very much.

He would be grateful for the things Angelique may do, but in the long term, he felt it be short lived. History in between Julia and Barnabas was changing in 1840, and maybe Julia thought, maybe this was meant to be but was confused about what impact it would make it time.

And Justin, came to his parents both requesting to Julia that when they go back that Carrie go with them, he refused to leave without her , and wanted her to be his wife, for he felt, she like Julia had the viritues, that were extolled to carry the bloodline of the Collins into the next generation.

Julia and Barnabas were in conflict with this and tried to talk Justin out of it. But Justin, nearly seventeen refused. He merely stated that he would go back in time again on his eighteenth birthday to get her. And Carrie wanted to be with Justin. Flora had agreed to release Carrie into the care of Julia, and upon Carrie's eighteenth birthday , it would be agreeable for her to wed Justin. Flora was actually delighted and trusted Justin as a son. For she loved him so, and saw he was quite protective
of Carrie. Justin, wanted a woman he loved Carrie, wanted to continue to be a doctor, and have children with Carrie, and return her to the Old House, while he attended Medical school at Harvard. Nicole promised to financially support Justin's
efforts through medical school, or living arrangements she thought that Carrie Stokes had the making of passing on values to the Collins and was worthy of Justin. NIcole was supportive of Justin's decision. Julia and Barnabas thought their son to be quite premature, and so back and forth they had discussions on the merits of an early marriage. However, Nicole interceded for Justin on his behalf, even quite a vast amount of her own financial resources to Justin, thereby negating Barnabas' arguments about Justin being incapable of supporting them. Barnabas was not happy about Nicole's interference . However, Nicole as she had always done, took her own stand especially when it came to the continuance of strong family values, and mates for the boys. Her contention was that Justin, even he was young found someone with high morals,and values, and that Carrie was be a strong mate for his to continue the values of the Collins. Julia and Barnabas agreed but cited the fact he was merely a boy. So Justin's position was still in discussion among Barnabas and Justin. Julia supported Barnabas' one hundred percent when he cited Justin was too young to marry. And Nicole has to accept her father's decision in regard to Justin regardless of how she felt. Justin was her brother, but Julia and Barnabas were his parents. However, Justin continued to pursue his studies and remained sincere about his intentions and did not allow his parents decision to cause him to deter his long term goals about Carrie Stokes.
