Beverly you asked for it

That evening before dinner the Collins family plus Burke Devlin gathered in the drawingroom.

"If you'll excuse us Mrs. Stoddard, Burke and I should be leaving now to meet Maggie and Joe." announced Vicki Winters.

"Please wait a few minutes Vicki, Burke. Barnabas should be here any minute and I want you to be here when he comes." asked Elizabeth.

Vicki glanced at Burke, she knew Barnabas wasn't his favorite person. Elizabeth saw the look that passed between Vicki and Burke.

She continued,"I have a surprize for you all and I wanted Barnabas to be here when I tell you all about it."

"A surprise? Mother! What is it?" Carolyn sat down next to Liz on the sofa.

Elizabeth smiled at her pretty daughter. "You'll have to wait and see."

Each person made a guess what the surprise could be. To them all Elizabeth answer the same way. Wait and see.

When Barnabas arrived, he was fairly overwhelmed by greetings and was pulled so rapidly into the drawingroom, he didn't have a chance to take off his caped coat.

"What's all this? Everyone seems so excited." He asked.

"Aunt Elizabeth has a surprize for us and she wouldn't tell us what it was until you got here!" David was fairly hopping up and down.

Barnabas lifted a quizzical eyebrow toward his cousin, Elizabeth. "Really?"

"Calm down now David. Where are your manners?" Asked Roger. "Barnabas, would you like a drink before Liz breaks her news, whatever it could be."

"No, thank you Roger."

"Alright Liz, the floor is yours. Let's hear it." Roger was just as curious as his son.

Elizabeth smiled at them and began, "We are so isolated here. I thought it would be pleasant to have some company. The daughter of a dear college friend of mine wrote asking to visit. It seems that her husband is a famous entertainer and it's hard for their family to get away, out of the public eye. So I wrote back to come when ever they like. She called me this afternoon, they be here in the morning. They have three children. One daughter, Aimee is about your age Carolyn. Kelly and Jack are a couple of years younger. I thought you and David would enjoy having young people around."
