Just as dusk fell, aknock sounded at the door of the Old House. They were all there: Julia, Barnabas, Quentin and Chris, who were assembled to hear if Eliot had come up with any ideas. When Barnabas opened the door he was surprised to see that Eliot wasn't alone.
"Elizabeth, I wasn't expecting you this evening!"
"I know Barnabas, hear Eliot out, we have many tiding to share with you this evening." Elizabeth told him patting his arm.
"I expect everyone is here. Shall we join and begin?" Eliot asked, placing his arm around Elizabeth to guide her past a gaping mouthed Barnabas. Greeting everyone "Good Evening", Elizabeth and Eliot seated themselves on the love seat.
Eliot began, "First of all, I know you are wondering at Elizabeth's presence here this evening." Turning to Elizabeth, taking her hands in his, he joyfully announced, " I have the honor to announce that Elizabeth and I were married this morning!"
A stunned silence followed this declaration. Eliot continued, "Before another word is said, I must tell you that I have told Elizabeth everything."
"My God! Eliot, what have you done!" Barnabas gasped.
"Please Barnabas, let Eliot finish. I know that you have kept me in the dark to protect me. Just as you, Julia and Quentin have always sought to protect the famliy as these crisises have arisen. But think how much easier it would have been if perhaps Roger and I could have been included. We could have helped you, instead of adding to your worries trying to shelter us from the facts of life as if we were David and Hallie!" Elizabeth admonished. She went on to state, "I think that we should all go to Collinwood and inform Roger after Eliot has told you his news."
"Alright Eliot, let us hear what you have to say now." Barnabas agreeded.
"As you all know, Chris unfortunately transformed before Alexandry Romanoff could impart most of the information we so desperately need. He told of Petoffi returning before the next full moon, but when? And how shall we prepare to defeat him?"
"Excuse me Professor, but we know all that. Haven't you come up with anything?" Chris shouted.
"Hush Chris," Julia admonished. "You aren't used to Eliot's manner. I have a feeling that has great news."
Perhaps Julia, perhaps," Eliot commented. "My recommendation is to have a seance. We must contact all the key players in this drama, even to Magda and Jenny, Julianka, King Johnny Romano and Alexandry to ask for their help against Petoffi! I feel that all the past attempts to destroy Petoffi have failed because the individual making the attempt acted alone. But a united front with all parties involved working as a team will surely triumph!"
"Professor, how do you know any of them will cime?" Quentin couldn't help but to ask. "Julianka cursed Magda, and through Magda my children. Can you see them working together?"
"Yes Quentin, to defeat a comman enemy, I do. Let us prepare, for time is of the essence now. Do I have your cooperation? For we must be sure and firm in our resolve to work together." Eliot declared.
"I agree Eliot. Elizabeth, I feel that I must apologize for the way we have treated you and Roger. My only excuse is, as you yourself said, that I only wanted to protect you. I did not want to expose you to the ugliness we have witnessed." Barnabas admitted.
What do you think we should do Elizabeth?" Julia queried.
"I think we should leave matters as they stand now. Tommorrow morning I will talk to Roger. Perhaps Carolyn and Maggie also. After all, thier lives are involved, too. David and Hallie should slowly be informed. As Eliot said, if we stand together, united we will have a better chance."
"Excuse me, Elizabeth." Eliot interrupted. "Something that you just said struck a chord with me."
"What was it, Eliot?" asked Elizabeth.
"The phrase 'stand together'. I was thinking, perhaps when you inform Roger, Carolyn and Maggie, we should all be with you. The facts are so fantastic as to be unbelievable. They might think you mad if you are alone. But, if we are all present, it would lend credence to the story." said Eliot.
"Point well taken, Eliot. Elizabeth, after breakfast bring Roger and the girls here to the Old House. If we attempt to tell them at Collinwood, Mrs. Johnson and the children might overhear." Barnabas said.
And so it was decided.
