Later that evening, minutes before moonrise, they gathered in the foyer. Maggie and Mrs. Johnson were under strict orders from Elizabeth to stay with the children in David's room. She had also commanded that no one be allowed to open or go near the windows. Maggie would read to the children until Elizabeth came to them later.

Eliot had told them what they must do. Each would stand at the four outer most corners of Collinwood. Elizabeth at the north corner, Barnabas at the south corner, Carolyn at the east and Quentin at the west. Each carried an item for their particular station.

Eliot announced, "The time has come." And each person went to their area.

Eliot approached Elizabeth's area. She placed in his hand a wooden pentagram shaped frame. This he lay on the ground three feet before Elizabeth. Eliot intoned, "Watchtower of the North safeguard all who dwell with in these walls. Watchtower of Fire, Dominion of thee have I." As he spoke he bent, struck a match and lite the frame. Up flames of red, yellow and orange flew, to tower in a column over Collinwood.

Eliot walked in stately measure to the east, toward Carolyn. When he reached her, Carolyn handed him an oddly shaped bottle. Eliot chanted, "Watchtower of the East safeguard all who dwell with in these walls. Watchtower of Water, Dominion of thee have I." As he spoke he poured liquid from the bottle in the shape of a pentagram three feet before Carolyn. A wave of water surged up, up to tower over Collinwood.

Eliot turned and walked to the south. When Eliot reached the southern corner, Barnabas placed a brown clay bowl in his hand. Eliot intoned, "Watchtower of the South safeguard all who dwell with in these walls. Watchtower of the Earth, Dominion of thee have I." Kneeling three feet before Barnabas, Eliot took up a great handful of powdered dirt from the bowl. This he siphoned out on to the ground in the shape of a pentagram. Tremors shook the earth as it cracked and split. An obelisk of soild rock rose to tower over Collinwood.

Eliot then walked to the west. Arriving there he held out his hand to Quentin. Quentin placed a silken pouch on it. Turning Eliot intoned, "Watchtower of the West safeguard all who dwell with in these walls. Watchtower of Air, Dominion of thee have I." Dropping to his knees, he took hands full of feathers. These he lay in the pattern of a pentagram three feet before Quentin and blew upon them. The feathers twirled, forming a spiral of wind, climbing to tower over Collinwood.

Coming quickly to his feet, he walked to stand before the main entrance of Collinwood. Elizabeth, Carolyn, Quentin and Barnabas joined him there, linking hands. "Fire...Water...Earth...Air! Hold all sorcery in abeyance from pentrating these walls. Thus I enjoin thee by the catechism of all that is Righteous, I hold mastery of thee. By my mastery I hold Evil impotent!"

Stepping back, he said, "It is done." In amazement they looked around. The night was serene and all was
calm.
