Angelique leaned back against Barnabas' chest as his arms encircled her. They stood on the crest of Widow's Hill waiting for the sun to rise. Before a sliver of sun appeared on the horizon, the sky lightened and began to glow with a golden light.
"I will never grow tired of this sight." whispered Barnabas in her ear.
Angelique pulled away from his embrace. Concerned Barnabas attempted to pull her back to him.
"No, don't. I can't...," Angelique sobbed. "You'll never be able to totally forgive me. Every day there will be thousands of reminders of what I've done to you. Can't you see that."
Barnabas seceded in pulling her into his arms, "Hush, my darling. You and I will never forget. We shouldn't forget, for what has come before will be the measure of our love. We have over come the hurdles of the past and we will over come the problems of today and tommorrow. But your focusing on the wrong thing, Angelique.
Holding her by her shoulders, Barnabas forced her to look at him. "See me, see I love you. I couldn't continue with out you now. Hold fast to our love."
Later that morning Eliot called a council of war. Eliot, Elizabeth, Quentin and Carolyn were waiting in the study for Barnabas.
Barnabas tapped on the door, "Please excuse me for being late. Opening the door wider, he said, "Allow me to introduce my wife, Angelique."
"Barnabas! Your wife."
"You never told us you were married." exclaimed Carolyn.
"We let our differences divide us for to long." said Barnabas placing his arm around Angelique's waist.
"Where are our manners! Please forgive us, Angelique." apologized Elizabeth.
"Angelique, this is my Cousin Elizabeth and her husband Eliot. Elizabeth's daughter, Carolyn. And I think you know my Cousin, Quentin."
"I am very pleased to meet you." smiled Angelique.
"Congradulations!" said Quentin with a smirk, "Congradulations on over coming the mistakes of the past. And may you always be as happy as you are this day!"
"Here, here!" said Eliot, as Carolyn and Elizabeth embraced Angelique and Barnabas.
"Welcome to the family." said Carolyn.
"We'll have tea soon and get to know one another. I am so happy for you both." smiled Elizabeth.
Quentin asked with a side long look at Elizabeth and Eliot, "Has Barnabas explained our situation, Angelique?"
"Yes he has, Quentin. I am willing to do every thing in my power to help my new family." responsed Angelique.
"Very good!" said Eliot. "We must devise a plan to flush Nicholas into the open and destroy him!"
