As Kate stood in the foyer, she heard the unmistakable deep tones of Barnabas. She stopped suddenly, her heart racing. She moved to the grandfather clock in the hall so no one could see her.
Now what? she thought. Get a hold of yourself, Katie. It's Barnabas, the man you love and the father of your child. Get a grip, would ya?
Kate took a deep breath, made a quick decision and entered the drawing room.
