The Collins family was all at the hospital. This gave Helen the perfect opportunity. She could now look through the house and grounds uninterrupted. She to the old house, to the old servants quarters and to the room that used to be hers. It looked exactly as it had when she last saw it. There was her bed against the wall, and the table where she had cast her voodoo spells. She was strong then, but she was even stronger now.
This was where everything had ended for her. She felt bitterness and resent build up in her again. Barnabas had murdered her here, and she had to spend what seemed like an eternity in the torment of the after life, while he slept for two hundred years. What she had done to him wasn’t nearly all he deserved. Now that she was back she would make sure he paid.
Helen moved through the house and found her way to Josette’s room. She took a drink of whiskey as she looked at the portrait of Josette du Pres. “Ah my sweet Josette...” She said, drifting into her natural French accent again. “So many good days gone by..”
Everyone was gone and no one knew that she was wandering through the house she used to know so well. She used to know every corner, every crevice. She refused to die, even now. It had taken every ounce of her power to create a new human form, but it felt good to have a woman’s body again, to feel sexy, to feel powerful. She knew where her former lover laid even now, as she walked quietly down the steps, hearing her heels click on the marble. There he lay helpless, ancient, a demon. Barnabas Collins. Helen laughed. “So we are alone again my love..”
