Part 16
Julia was still standing there about to give Maggie further details of why
they needed her help when she saw Elizabeth running down the hall. "Carolyn
is dying!" She moaned. "Oh God!" Maggie took off, it seemed as if she had wanted
an excuse to get away from Julia and Elliot.
"What happened?" Julia asked as she took the stairs two at a time.
"I.I.I don't know! She was lying there when Barnabas came in and suddenly she
took to convulsing, I don't know what happened. But she said the oddest thing,
she was screaming for Banrabas not to touch her..."
Julia made it to Carolyn's room in record time, and found her still screaming
and struggling against the nurses who were trying to sedate her. Elizabeth was
staring into the room anxious and uncertain. "I need you all to leave," Julia
demanded as she ushered Roger and Elizabeth out of the room.
"Julia," Elizabeth paused as Julia was about to close the door.
"Elizabeth, she'll be fine. I'll need to examine her now. I let you know how
everything goes."
After Elizabeth left Julia turned to the nurses. "You may all leave. I won't
be needing you." The two younger nurses left the room. There was another nurse
who still hesitated.
"Dr. Hoffman."
"You may leave Ms. Williams."
"But if should need assistance."
"Then I'll call for you," Julia said growing irritated. The nurse finally left
and Julia was left with Carolyn. She had calmed down considerably and was sitting
us staring blankly at the opposite wall.
"How are you feeling?" Julia asked as she sat down on the bed. Julia received
no answer and started checking her vital signs. She had improved, but was still
pale and too week. She would need to run tests and she would have to hurry and
create a serum.
