Present day--Longwood Florida
~~~
My name is John Black. No relation to the Days character. I don't have big muscles and even a head full of hair. I'm just an ordinary middle-aged guy that's searching for something. Something beyond that which science could predict, something more.
So many terrible things happen in life, I wonder sometimes if God is sleeping, or is he even there?
I rent a house in Longwood Florida. It's a nice place, five acres of land, and a house built in 1887. My two cats keep me company. And I just keep searching.
Let me explain. Years ago I saw an actually UFO. It was real. At least I think it was. A witch once told me, (on a blind date) that I would be the one. The one that would bridge the gap between science and the supernatural. I would be the one that would prove that the supernatural is real. So far it hasn't happened. But then one day....
I was on my webtv, writing an e-mail to my good friends online. There are just so many nice people online. But I digress. There was a knock on the door.
"Hello, is anyone there," a female voice called out.
As usual, I was only wearing my briefs, so I threw on a pair of pants, and went to the door. There was a dark haired woman standing at the door. She had streaks of gray in her hair, looked to be in her fifties. "Yes, I can help you?" I asked.
"My name is Victoria Winters," she said, taking a breath. "Are you John Black?"
I nodded.
"I've been looking for you for a very long time. You are just the person that I need to talk to."
"I am," I replied smiling, thinking this woman is still good looking, feeling rather flattered.
"You ran an ad in Scifi magazine. You are looking for proof of the supernatural. I have it. Let me tell you the story of a place called Collinsport and especially of my friend, Josette, who was murdered."
"Murdered!!?" I said surprised. "Isn't this a matter for the police.
"Josette was born in the eighteenth century and was murdered in 1979," Victoria said.
"Come in, Miss Winters," I said, feeling a rush of excitement. I could feel the goose pimples rising on my arms. This was exactly what I was looking for. Life wasn't limited to observable and testable facts. Life was much more. I was sure of it. Now, was my chance to prove this to the world.
