The Nightmare Pt.2

~~~~~
Nicholas Blair rinsed under the shower. The sticky Florida sand had stuck to his feet. The cold water felt good running down his hairy chest. He smiled over at Jeb, who was standing under the next shower. They were using the public washroom just off Sand dollar beach in Florida. "Jeb, I've never been more happy in my life," Nicholas said, laughing. "And my life has been a long one. Considering all the time spent in hell, between assignments for the Master."
"You really are in love with Maggie, aren't you man?" Jeb asked. He used the lava soap and scrubbed his chest. He narrowed his eyes. "But I thought love was the one forbidden emotion in Hell?"
"Jeb," Nicholas said, laughing. "We aren't in hell now are we? I must say that Carolyn has never looked more lovely." A bit of soap got in his eyes. He stood directly under the shower and rubbed his eyes with a towel.
"I love her, man," Jeb said softly. "I love her more than anything."
Maggie noticed the brown box next to their motel room door. "Oh, Carolyn, it looks like someone from Collinsport sent another wedding present for Nicholas and me." She picked up the brown box and began to open it.
Carolyn smiled. "I wonder what it is? It couldn't be anything very big...that box is so small." She felt the cool sea breeze blow against her red bikini. It felt so good to be here in Florida, away from Collinwood and that nightmare. Where had her family gone? Would she ever know? Poor David, it had been his fifteenth birthday party.
"Look," Maggie gasped. "It's that horrid statue that Mrs. Johnson had placed on the dinner table...that night." She looked at the small figure. It was a creature straight out of Lovecraft with six arms and wicked looking teeth. "Why would anyone send this? I thought that you threw it away?"
Carolyn felt her body begin to shake with fear. "Maggie, there is something terribly wrong here. That night...that horrible night...I threw that thing into the fireplace and destroyed it."
A voice spoke from the doorway. "Maggie, put that statue down at once. It's dangerous...very dangerous," Nicholas said, walking into the room. He took the statue from Maggie. He looked over at Jeb, who walked in behind him. "Jeb, take this statue and bury it."
"Okay, man," Jeb said, shaking. "Where should I bury it? Just anywhere?" His blonde ringlets hung over his eyes, he pushed them aside,
"No," Nicholas said, sternly. "It's very important that you bury it on holy ground." His eyes narrowed. "Do you remember that old graveyard just off the main highway? Bury it there."
"Sure, man," Jeb said. "But do you think that we'll be safe? What does this mean?"
"Just do what I said," Nicholas said. "And do it quickly."
Jeb walked out of the door. The sound of the door slamming could be heard in the silence of the room. The two women looked thoughtfully at Nicholas. Maggie spoke first. "Nicholas, what does this mean? You and Jeb seem to know so much about that statue. Is it some sort of black magic? Do you both know more that you've told us about the disappearance of the Collins family?"
Carolyn sobbed. "Nicholas, where are my family...where are they?"
Nicholas cleared his throat. He knew that he had to say something---but what?
In a small cafe, near the beach sat a man. He was dressed in black. His name was Thanatos.
