Liz Stoddard had mixed feelings, sitting in the drawing room with this strange young woman. She looked so much like Vicki, but was so different.

"I hope that you don't mind, my stopping in so late. I have just arrived in town. I was going to stay at my hotel. But..." Alexandra said, smiling. "I'm afraid that I'm a bit of a night owl, used to working all night. And I was so eager to meet my sister."

"And what kind of work is that?" Liz Stoddard asked. "Can I get you some tea?"

"No, thanks," Alexandra replied. "I write children's books...mostly fantasy and science fiction."

"Oh, really," Liz Stoddard said. She raised her eyebrows. "Judging from your clothing, I would have guessed that you were a Thespian...an actress of some sort, working in the theater."

Alexandra shifted in her seat. She was wearing a black cape with the appearance of brocade. "Oh, this, I have a certain fascination with all things medieval." She leaned forward and whispered. "Mrs. Stoddard, I suppose that I should tell you, my secret."

"Yes, certainly," Liz Stoddard replied. She felt a the short lanky hairs rising on her arms having felt a sudden chill from wondering what the secret might be? This young woman seemed so strange. Her skin was pale like alabaster and her eyes seemed to glow like a cat.

"It helps with my writing to play a little game of role playing. I become one of the characters in my book. It helps me visualize scenes and think of dialogue"

"I see," Liz Stoddard said. "Miss ... ah, you didn't tell me your last name?"

"I don't mean to be in a hurry," Alexandra said interrupting, "but when do you expect Victoria, my sister to return? I'm dying to meet her. All my life, I've held certain expectations about what she was like. You said that she was at the library?"

Liz looked at the clock. It was a little after ten. She frowned. "Yes, she should have already returned. The library closes at nine."

"Perhaps, I should go look for her, then," Alexandra said, rising from her seat.

"No, it's so late," Liz Stoddard pleaded, "Allow me to call Sheriff Patterson...perhaps he could send a deputy to find her--"

"I grew up in a foundling home on the outskirts of London," Alexandra said. "I know how to protect myself."

Liz turned around to refill her glass of sherry, when she turned back the room was empty and Alexandra was gone. The front door to the great house was left open. The sound of the wind and approaching thunderstorm filled the air.

"This little girl is going to like it," Mike Long said. He was standing on the side of the docks at Collinsport harbor. The wind was starting to pick up. He and his friend Kenny Booth were shipmates on the fishing ship--The Green Man. The idea of raping a woman seemed like a good idea. They were both drunk from a long night of drinking at the Blue Whale.

Vicki struggled to break free, but Kenny was strong. He held her arms behind her, while Mike played with her breasts and slowly was removing her dress. She felt sick inside. Hadn't life been tough enough? Never knowing who her parents were, growing up in a New York foundling home...now this. She had just wanted to get some air down at the docks, when these two creeps had shown up.

"I'll take her first," Mike said, drool running down the side of his mouth. "I was never one for sloppy seconds." With one movement, he ripped her panties off, tearing them away and tossing the white fabric into the nearby
water.

Kenny held her. She struggled and turned and tried to get away. She could feel the hard bulge in his pants. He was getting excited thinking about his turn. Mike moved closer and closer, feeling his way into her opening. There wasn't much light, except from the Blue Whale, which was several hundred yards away.

The woman appeared, suddenly and unexpected, like a shadow in the night. Her long black cape was blowing in the wind. She moved quickly. Kenny and Mike didn't have time to react. She grabbed the two men, knocking their heads together with a powerful force. They became senseless and inert. She then proceeded to ripe into their throats, first Mike, then Kenny, drawing every bit of life blood out of them.

The whole scene had seemed like a nightmare to Vicki. Things had happened so very fast. Now she looked at horror at the two men, dead, lifeless, their bodies drained of blood. And then she looked over at the young woman. This was the woman in the dream. The woman that looked like her, but was evil, wicked and deadly. Vicki should have feared her, but instead felt a warm feeling, like seeing a beloved family member for the first time.

"Vicki," Alexandra said, "you know what I am. And you know what is required. You have to help me, because I am your sister...and the love and bond between us...is stronger than anything you've ever known."

Vicki nodded her head. She understood.

Rain drops started to fall and several men leaving the Blue Whale noticed them. Moments later, a crowd from the bar assembled. Alexandra wrapped her cape around Vicki, holding her close. She could feel Vicki trembling. Sheriff Patterson was on his way. There would be much to explain. But it didn't really matter. She was finally with her sister. They would find a way to work things out.
