"The Devil is a liar and a cheat," Nicholas said, smiling. "But he is also the reason that his followers will remain young and strong, while those that call themselves good, will fade with time, their skin wrinkling and rotten, like the page of an old book. *They* will turn to dust, while we will live with youthful zest and energy. The passion of life, will be our playground forever."

"I'm just want to save my sister," Vicki said. "I don't care about living forever."

"Ah, but that is one of the side benefits of your choice," Nicholas said. He looked out the window, of the house by the sea. It was high tide. The waves kissed the closest point of the beach. The ocean looked close enough to reach out and touch. "Frankly, Miss Winters, I'm very delighted about your decision. Since, the untimely death of my sister, Cassandra, it has been very lonely here. You...." He paused and turned around, touching her hand. "With your permission, perhaps, we can consider ourselves, brother and sister. All one big happy family, dedicated to the Master of Darkness."

"I have always loved the night," Vicki said. "It is so beautiful. The stars are like precious jewels glittering in the darkness." She took a deep breath, trying to hold back tears. "But I am not evil. I love goodness...people caring about one another."

"But your twin sister is a vampire," Nicholas said, laughing. "Perhaps there has been evil in your heart all along. It does seem to run in your family."

At the Collinsport Jail, Reverend Trask sat with the Sheriff. "Yes, George, when the morning comes, our prayers will be answered. The All Mighty, shall cleanse the world of that demon sister. She shall turn to dust under the light of the sun."

Alexandra paced back and forth. She glared at Trask and Sheriff Patterson. "I will kill you both...drink your blood and rip your heads from your bodies."

Trask walked over to the bars of the cell. "Please choose your words carefully, my dear." He smiled. "In mere hours, you will be facing your maker. If you repent your evil ways, perhaps he may show you some mercy."

"Fuck you," Alexandra said. "I'll be waiting for you in hell. I will save a very hot place for you to sit. The Devil loves no one better than a hypocrite."

"Leave her alone, Reverend," Sheriff Patterson said. "Everyone deserves some peace and solitude, before their death. How would it hurt you to show some small amount of kindness? After all, isn't that what going to church is all about?"

"I shall return before day break," Trask said, staring at Alexandra. "I shall laugh, while your body is burning in the sunlight. For it is said, that goodness shall rejoice in the suffering of evil."

"Let's get out of here," Sheriff Patterson said. "My deputy shall be on duty. We can return before morning."

"How can we save my sister?" Vicki asked.

"There is only one way," Nicholas said, smiling. "You must take her place in jail. Since you are twins...and with the help, of a little simple glamor magic, it should work." He narrowed his eyes. "There is one additional thing, Miss Winters, that only you can provide."

"And what is that?"

"Attitude," Nicholas replied. "You must have your sister's attitude, always remembering who and what you are. A creature in many ways, far superior to humans."

Deputy David O'Connor sat reading his comic book. He had always loved the stories of Superman. And this issue was a special treat. Clark Kent was going to finally reveal his secret identity to Lois Lane.

{"Lois, there is something, I want to tell you," Clark said. He was sitting at his desk at the Daily Planet. "Haven't you ever wondered why I always manage to run off somewhere, just before Superman appears?"

"Yes," Lois replied. "I guess that I always assumed that you were afraid, when problems happened."

"That is not the reason," Clark said, "there is...."}

A thick mist drifted into the room and the deputy fell asleep. Nicholas and Vicki walked past him. Nicholas pulled the keys to the jail cell off, of the wall.

Alexandra looked at Vicki. She felt such joy. She loved her sister so very much. "Vicki, you have come to save me!"

"Yes," Vicki said, "I've come to take your place."

"You've what?" Alexandra asked. She looked at Nicholas, who smiled at her. His teeth shining in the dim lighting of the jail cell. "That is a crazy idea. I won't allow it."

"You have no choice my dear," Nicholas said. "Those were the terms of our deal."

"Vicki," Alexandra asked, "just who the hell is this bastard?"

The sound of Nicholas laughing, echoed through the jail house. He was going to enjoy this.
