Through the foggy streets of London, a dark carriage moved fast down the cobbled streets. The passenger bids the driver to go faster. They are being chased, no other carriages are on the streets. It is nearly dawn, but the sky is still dark.

The carriage pulls up to a house. The passenger sends the driver away, and runs to the house, looking down the foggy street for a sign of the other carriage. They knock on the door. There is no answer for quite some time. Finally a light appears in the upstairs window.

"Can I help you," a man asks.

"Are you Mr. Sherlock Holmes," the passenger asks.

"Yes," the man replies.

"You must help me, someone wants to kill me."

Sherlock Holmes woke Mrs. Hudson, and asked her to get a room ready for the passenger, he left instructions to let the passenger sleep and they would talk in the morning.

"Holmes, where is this mysterious stranger?" Dr. Watson asked.

"Sleeping most likely, I told Mrs. Hudson show her in when she awoke."

"Mr. Holmes, the young lady is awake," Mrs. Hudson said coming in with a pot of tea.

"Thank you Mrs. Hudson, please bring her in."

"Yes sir."

She returned with the passenger that came to their door last night. Holmes hadn't seen her face last night, but he saw that she was very beautiful. She had soft brown hair, and green eyes. She was tall and slender. She looked a little scared as she followed Mrs. Hudson into the room.

Both Holmes and Dr. Watson stood up. "Won't you sit down, Miss. . . "

"Josephine Carnahan," the young woman said sitting down in the chair.

"Would you like anything?" Dr. Watson asked.

"Just tea please," she said softly.

"If you feel like talking now, would you mind telling us why you think someone is trying to kill you?"

"I was being chased last night, by a monster."

"A monster what do you mean?" Dr. Watson asked curiously.

"The man who has killed my father," Josephine sobbed.
