Based on the HBO Show Sex and the City
Four single girls from Manhattan found themselves leaving the City, for a small
town in Maine to visit one of their fabulous single friends.
"Why do we have to go to visit Carolyn in Collinsport?" Samantha Jones complained for what seemed like the hundredth time since we got on the train early this morning.
"Well I'm glad that we're going to see her," Charlotte York said. "I love traveling by train, and besides, how many times has she come out to see us? We owe it to her."
I (being the fabulous and single Carrie Bradshaw) took out my pack of cigarettes, I might add that I have cut down, much to the satisfaction of my friends. I couldn't disagree with Charlotte on this point; the train ride was great. I was inspired by it all. I could see all the writers I've always admired writing some of their great works on a train. I don't know if this is true, but it certainly helps me get over some writers block thinking that the train is some kind of muse.
I also agree with Samantha, I would have been happier if Carolyn had come out to see us instead, but she had invited us and we had all put it off too long.
I have never been to Collinsport, Maine but from Carolyn's stories I can imagine that one could take in all the sights in less than a day. I can not imagine how she can stand it there. There is only one bar in town, an as she puts it only one man that isn't married or for whatever reason undateable in town. How will Samantha survive? The girls and I haven't broke the news to her yet, for fear that she might just desert us all.
Miranda Hobbes returned to our car, carrying a drink's holder. If only it were four Cosmopolitans instead of four soft drinks.
"They didn't have diet Coke I had to get something called diet Gulp," Miranda said passing out the drinks.
Samantha opened the lid and looked down at the drink with a look of pure disgust. "I can't drink this," she said and took out a flask and drink from it.
We looked at Samantha with shock; this especially shocked Charlotte.
"What is that?" she asked.
"Honey we all need this, I have a feeling that we entering a No Man Land," she said and handed Charlotte the flask. Charlotte looked around then took a small sip. "Live a little," Samantha said.
The train pulled into the small station. If I didn't know better I would have thought that it was deserted.
We got out and got our bags, all the other passengers who were stopping in Collinsport stared at out luggage, obviously they don't have many visitors here that stay long.
Carolyn was there to pick us up. She looked great.
"I'm so glad you guys are here," she said. "I can't tell you how much I miss you all, and how bored I am."
"I can imagine," Samantha said putting her bags in the trunk.
"I promise to make your visit interesting," Carolyn promised. "I can't wait for you to met Barnabas," she said.
"Who's Barnabas?" I asked.
"My Cousin, from England."
"Is he good looking?" Samantha asked. Before Carolyn could answer, Samantha who had seen a group of bald headed men, dressed in flannel shirts and jeans. "Never mind, just as long as he's not like that."
"Don't worry he's like no one you've ever met," Carolyn said.
