Angélique woke up the next morning still in Ben's arms. She left quickly before he woke up. She got dressed and went down stairs, Josette wanted to see her before she went to New York. When she got down stairs she heard voices from inside the dinning room. Josette was saying, "I'm going to New York to have lunch with Peyton, and to do some shopping for the wedding."

"Alright, I'll see you at the office then," Barnabas replied.

Angélique walked into the room then, and found them in each other's arms. "I didn't hear you come in," Josette said when they parted.

"I'm sorry, I didn't know anyone was in here."

"That's alright Angélique. Are you going with the girls to lunch today?"

"Yes, they said that we were going to plan some kind of thing for all of us to do before the wedding."

"I remember them talking about something like that."

"I think that they wanted to know who Peyton was going to bring," Angélique said.

"Oh, well I'll ask her. She's going to come and stay at Collinwood tonight anyway, so her date will be coming tonight."

"I'll tell them then," Angélique said.

"I have to get to work now," Barnabas said kissing Josette again, "I'll see you tonight then sweetheart."

When he was gone Josette sat back down, "Angélique I wanted to thank you again for all that you've, I want to do something special for you. Please tell me what I can do."

Give a Barnabas, Angélique thought. "You don't have to do anything for me," she said instead.

"But I want to," Josette said. "If you think of anything just tell me alright?"

"Alright," Angélique said.

"I have to go, I'll see you later. And remember if there is anything that you need just let me know."

Angélique ate some breakfast then went to her room, and got ready for her lunch date with the bridesmaids.

"Josette, Oh my god, it's so good to see you again," said a pretty light brown haired girl said. Hugging Josette, when she got to the table.

"Peyton, you look great, what did you do to your hair?"

"I lightened it, I needed a change. I broke up with Andrew again."

"Why you to are so good together?"

"I don't know, I think he's just a little commitment shy, it's the same thing every time we get together again. It's great for the first couple months, but once we get past it we just can't seem to stay together."

"That's too bad, he's such a great guy. What was it this time?"

"I think it was because of what happened when I had dinner with his family. Did I tell you that I had dinner with his family?" Peyton asked

"No," Josette said.

"Well after five years of and on this was the first time I ever met his parents."

"What happened," Josette asked.

"Everything was going great until his mother began talking about things she always has to have in the kitchen. She was talking about tongs, she asked me how many I had. I told her that I didn't have any, that I never need them anyway, my mother never needed them either, well she freaked out."*

"Why?" Josette asked.

"She thinks I was deprived. Do you think I was deprived because I didn't have any tongs when I was growing up?"

"No."

"The next day who do you think is at my door? His Mother, she's got a pair of tongs in her hand and she gives them to me."

"I bet she was happy that you had them."

"Yes, I suppose she was, but I didn't need them to make my life whole."

"I guess to some people that sums up happiness, whether you have tongs in your kitchen or not?" Josette said smiling.

"Well obviously what is in her kitchen drawers makes her very happy," Peyton said almost laughing now.

"What can I get for you lady today," the waiter asked.

"Do you know what you want yet?" Peyton asked. "Could we have a couple more minutes?"

"Sure, can I get you anything to drink?"

"Yes I think I'll have a white wine."

"I'd like the same," Josette said to the waiter.

"Have you ever been here before," Josette asked Peyton.

"No, but Andrew told me about it. This sounds good," she said.

"What is it?"

"The cod with mushroom-hub crust, and tomato compote," Peyton said.

"I don't like fish that much," Josette said.

The waiter brought their drinks, "Are you ready to order?"

"Yes I think so, are you ready Josette?"

"Yes, I'd like the Fettuccine with pumpkin shitankes and Mascapone."

"And you?" the waiter asked.

"I'll have the cod with mushroom-hub crust, and tomato compote, and can I get a small tossed salad with that?"

"Anything else?"

"No I think that will be all for now."

"Who did you ask to come to the wedding with you?" Josette asked.

"I asked Sebastian, he's from England he just moved here and is working in the same building as I do. He's so gorgeous. He'd be prefect for you if you weren't with Barnabas. Andrew was going to come with me, but he's involved with a girl over the phone now, I don't know what he thinks he's going to get out of that relationship."

"What are you talking about?"

"They have phone sex. I don't know why he thought I should know all about it. We're still friends, but I don't know why he feels that I need to know about every relationship he has when we aren't together."

"It's good that you too are still friends though," Josette said.

"I know, but sometimes I wish that we were still together. Enough about me, have you and Barnabas been alone together since you got here?"

"Peyton what kind of question is that?'

"I'm just curious, after all you two haven't seen each other in such a long time."

"Well something might have happened last night, but his father came in and almost caught us."

"You're kidding!"

"No, but I wish I was. He must have suspected something."

"I never thought I'd hear you say that."

"I know that the sort of thing that would happen to you."

They both laughed, their waiter brought them their meals, and they talked about the wedding.

"So are you going to let me see your dress?"

"Don't you want to wait?" Josette asked teasingly.

"No," Peyton said.

At the 5 th Avenue Bistro, Angélique sat at a table with the Josette's other friends as they planned what they wanted to do.

"How about dinner and a movie?" Virginie asked.

"What movies are out," Therésè asked.

"Excuse me do you have a newspaper for today," Louisa asked their waiter. When he returned she opened it to the movie listings and read off, "Center Stage, What Lies Beneath, The Patriot, The Big Kahuna, Scary Movie, and Sunshine."

"I think that we should decide what time we will be at the theater then we can let Josette and Barnabas choose," Angélique suggested.

"Good idea, then after the movie we could go some place and have some drinks," Virginie said, "Were could we go?"

"You want some place fun to go to right," a young girl about their age said from the next table.

"Yes," Therésè said.

"We'll my boyfriend works at this great bar called The Blue Whale, they have a Karaoke there on Saturday nights, that might be the best place for you if you want to have some fun."

"Thanks," Therésè said.

"What do you think of that idea?" she asked.

"I think that it's a great idea," Louisa said.

"Me too," Virginie said.

"We'll have a lot of fun, I Karaoke one other time," Angélique said.

"Great, how does a little shopping for Saturday sound to everyone?" Therésè asked.

When they returned to Collinwood Angélique went up to her room to look over what she had bought. She had splurged a little on a sundress that all the other girls said looked great on her. She didn't think that she would have fun, but when they were heading home, she realized that she hadn't had so much fun.

She looked at the clock, Josette would be coming home soon, and then the fun would begin.

To be continued. . .
