"I talked to Ben today." Angèlique spun around. "I know your little secret," he said.
"What is it that you think you found out?"
"Why that you're a witch, my dear," Barnabas said and grabbed her. "Did you think that you could get away with this? You almost killed my sister, and you killed my uncle, all because I don't love you. How pathetic are you?"
Angèlique couldn't say anything, she was terrified. She had never thought that Barnabas would ever find out, but he had, and he knew. "I'm sorry Barnabas. I just love you."
"Love me? You don't love me. You want me, I did love you, but you changed and the person you became I don't want any part of. A person that would try to kill an innocent girl. How could I ever love you after I found out about that?"
Angèlique threw herself at Barnabas' feet, she sobbed, "Barnabas, I did it all for you, I love you. We were meant to be together."
Barnabas backed out of the room, "You killed my uncle and tried to kill my sister, for me? Why would I want you after that?" He turned and walked down the hall, Angèlique got up and chased after him.
"Please Barnabas, I was jealous of Josette, I would never hurt your sister, I was just so. . ." she said grabbing his arm.
Barnabas pulled away, "Don't touch me ever again." As he pushed her away Angèlique tripped on the carpet and began to fall down the stairs. She tried to grab onto the banister, but it was to late. Barnabas ran down the stairs as quickly as he could. He hadn't meant for her to fall.
Angèlique fell to the bottom of the steps in a heap. When Barnabas got to her side, he saw that she was still alive.
"Angèlique I'm sorry I didn't want this to happen. Don't move I'm going to get some help.
"You think you can get rid of me this easy, I curse you Barnabas, I curse you," Angèlique whispered before she passed out.
Barnabas ran to the phone and called an ambulance. He stayed by her side till they arrive and took her to the hospital.
He raced over to Valrosa, to tell Josette what happened. "I don't believe it," Josette said.
"I didn't mean for it to happen."
"I know, are you going to go to the hospital?"
"I think I should, we are still married after all, but I'll be back tonight," he said.

"How is she," Barnabas asked the doctor.
"She's stable, it was touch and go for a while. I want to do a few more tests, just to be sure. You can go and see her if you want."
"I have to go home and tell my family what happened, I'll be back," Barnabas said. "If she wakes up will you tell her that I'll be back?"
"Of course."

Angèlique woke up after another dream, she was watching herself fall, and Barnabas' face when he saw her lying on the floor.
"Barnabas," she whispered.
"He's not here honey," a woman's voice said.
Angèlique turned her head and saw a middle-aged woman, with a warm face.
"Where is he?"
"I think he went home," the nurse said, sitting by Angèlique, who turned her head away. She was not going to let him go to Josette while she was here, because of him. "I'll leave you now, just ring if you need anything."
Angèlique sat up she turned to the window and looked out at the moon, she began to talk in a low voice. "I call upon a creature of the night, I call upon the un-dead that walk among us. I set a curse upon Barnabas Collins, he has betrayed me, and there can be no forgiveness. I curse him so that everyone who loves him will die by his hand. I call upon you, listen to my call."
The window blew open and a huge gust of wind blew her back onto the bed, the wind seemed to be replying to her call. Angèlique felt a hand on her shoulder.
"Are you all right Mrs. Collins?" a doctor asked.
"Yes, I was just trying to. . . " she began.
"You shouldn't be getting out of bed, you've been in quite an accident. Did you get the message from your husband?"
"No, the nurse just said that he went home," she said when she was back in the bed.
"Well I don't know why she didn't, your husband went home to tell the family about the accident, he told me that he would be back within the hour. So he should be on his way."
Angèlique looked up at the doctor with a look of panic on her face. "Please call him, he's has to come now," she screamed.
"Calm down Mrs. Collins," the doctor said.
"Please call him," she pleaded.
"Nurse Fortè would you please bring a sedative from Mrs. Collins," the doctor said as he walked out of the room.

"Mr. Collins, it's the hospital," Briggs said holding out the phone to Barnabas as he was getting ready to go back to the hospital.
"Thank you," he said taking the phone. "Hello, yes, this is Barnabas Collins. I'll be right there."
"What is it Barnabas?" his mother asked.
"I don't know, they said that Angèlique is calling for me, she can't be controlled. I got to go, please tell Josette what's going on."

Barnabas pulled his silver porsche boxster out of the garage and speed off. When he turned off to the road the lead to the hospital the car began to sputter.
"Come on dammit," he said slamming his hands on the steering wheel. Then it stopped. He looked up that and saw that he was on empty.
"Shit," he said. What was he going to do now? He got and looked up and down the road, there was no sign of anyone coming. There was nothing left for him to do, but walk.
Barnabas walked about a mile when he heard a noise coming from behind him, he turned and saw a figure coming closer to him.
"Hey I ran out of gas, do you know how far it is to a phone?"
The figure made no reply; it just came closer and closer. When it was about fifteen feet away from Barnabas he saw a red glowing where the eyes would have been.
"Who are you," he said. They figure came up right at his side, and grabbed Barnabas by the neck biting down.
Barnabas screamed. The pain was unbearable. He was powerless in the grip of this creature with superhuman strength. He couldn't tell if it was a man or a woman, all he could see were the red eyes looking deep with in his.
Finally after what seemed like hours the creature let go of Barnabas letting him drop to the ground.
"Josette," Barnabas whispered.
To be continued. . .
