Josette paced back and forth through her bedroom in Collinwood. She hadn't been able to sleep, and now she was waiting for Joshua to come.
She turned on the TV and listened to the news, another body had been found. Police were baffled by the deaths, they had no leads and were no closer to catching the killer.
They would never find him, Josette realized. Barnabas was too smart, and Joshua would make sure that no one knew that his son was one of the living dead.
She couldn't watch anymore, she turned on some music.
"The way you wear you hat, the way you sip you tea, the memory of all that, no no they can't take that away from me. . . "
It had been one of their songs. Barnabas had sent to her on one of the CD's he had made for her after their engagement.
A knock on the door caused her to jump, it was Joshua. She went to the door and opened it, Joshua stood in the doorway.
"I thought you might still be asleep," he said.
"I couldn't sleep," she said letting him into her room.
"You need to tell the family about your pregnancy, you can't wait any longer."
"I know but what will I say?" Josette asked.
"I thought about that and the only thing I could think of was that you discovered that you were pregnant around the time of Sarah's funeral. And you didn't know the best way to tell the family, and now you realized that there really is no good way to do it."
"Do you think that they will believe that?"
"They have to," Joshua said.
"I asked Noah to take some of Barnabas' blood and test it, then he'll do an amniocentesis, and compare. Then we will know if the child is healthy."
Josette nodded, "What are you going to do about Barnabas?" she asked.
Joshua sighed and sat in a chair, "I can't take my son's life, but he can't walk among us, and he cannot be in your child's life at all. There is no way that they would understand. I don't know what I will do yet, but I will let him hold his child at leas t once."
"Thank you," Josette said.
"I think you should come and tell the family at once."
"Yes of course," Josette said.

Josette played her part beautifully, Naomi was crying tears of joy holding on tightly to Josette's hand telling her how happy she was for her.
"If only Barnabas were here to share this wonderful miracle," Naomi said.
Joshua smiled at Josette that told her that she had done well.

Peter knocked on the doors of Valrosa, they were opened by Seward, one of the new staff at Valrosa that Joshua had hired for Josette.
"I'm here for Mrs. Collins," he said.
"Of course Mr. Bradford," he said leading him into the drawing room, where Peter found Josette sitting on the sofa looking at a magazine.
"You look great," he said.
"Thank you," she said smiling at him, she got up.
"Are you ready?" he asked.
"Yes, thank you for coming with me, I don't think I could have gone by myself."
"I am more than happy to go with you," Peter said. "How are you feeling?"
"Wonderful, so much better now that everyone knows about the baby," she said. "Did Noah find anything abnormal in Barnabas' blood?"
"Yes, there were some cells that were present," he told her.
"Well I guess we should go," she said picking up her bag.
