Quentin's Thoughts and Barnabas' Demise XV
Collinwood...........
A small petite woman wearing gypsy clothing walked up to the front door of Collinwood. She knocked on the door and looked around, gazing up at the full moon sitting high in the warm summer sky. After a moment the front door opened and Beth appeared. She gasped upon seeing the woman and then fell to the floor in a faint.
Aristede rushed to her, lifting her head up and lightly tapping her face. "Beth, wake up! Beth!"
The woman at the door stared down at Beth with amazement, and Aristede looked up at her in irritation. "What did you do to her?"
"I did nothing to her. She opened the door and fell to the floor." the small, petite woman said crisply.

A room at the Inn in Collinsport........
The shadow in the chair suddenly began to grow brighter and rapidly the form of Tabitha appeared. She slumped over and then began to straighten up a bit.
Tabitha looked straight ahead and then shivered for a few moments. Her eyebrows began to lower and her face was transformed into an angry scowl. "Interference again!" She spoke through clenched teeth. "I should have known this would be difficult!"
She walked towards the mirror in the room and passing
her hand over its surface the mirror began to lose her reflection and reveal
another reflection. This time, it was of Magda and Sandor in the Old House.
"So, Magda! You are the one who has caused this interference!. If it were not
for Petofi, I would have what I want. Because of you and that stupid quest to
obtain your mystical hand I may fail in this attempt. Now Magda has stolen the
hand from her own clan and they have sent someone to retrieve it. Someone who
is very powerful indeed." And she stood there watching
intently.

Collinwood..........
Beth stirred and began to open her eyes. She was lying in Aristede's arms with a strange young woman looking down at her. "What happened? What am I doing here?"
"You don't remember coming downstairs?" Aristede said softly.
Beth frowned for a few moments then said, "I just checked Jamison in his bedroom." She sat up and rubbed her forehead.
"What else do you remember?" Aristede said with a great deal of concern. Now he was certain all that Angelique had told them was beginning to come true. And he had failed to recognize this in Beth.
Beth continued to rub her head and said, "I remember walking down the hall, and feeling like I was suffocating. I couldn't breathe! Then you, looking at me, Aristede!"
Aristede now was furious with himself. He had let Beth down. He helped her to her feet. Beth stood there holding on to Aristede for support, when she looked again at the tiny gypsy woman standing at the door. "Who are you?"
The tiny petite woman said, "My name is Julianka. I am looking for Magda Rakosi. Do you know where she is?"
Beth started to answer, then a voice in her head said, 'Magda and Sandor are at the Old House. Tell her!' and without thinking about it Beth repeated those words to Julianka. "Magda and Sandor are at the Old House."
Julianka's eyes widened a bit at this information. "Where is this Old House?"
Aristede replied. "Go down to the edge of the house and take the path towards the sea and the Old House will find you."
Julianka looked at Aristede and Beth for a moment, gave a slight smile and said, "Thank you." Then she turned around and left out the door disappearing into the night.
Aristede looked at Beth in wonderment. "How did you know where Magda and Sandor were?"
Beth looked at Aristede and smiled. "Angelique told me." Then she began to stagger again a bit.
Aristede said, "Let's go into the drawing room and you can sit down. I will get you some wine and perhaps that will make you feel better."
And he helped Beth towards the drawing room, all the
while thinking of the past 40 minutes and all that had happened. He wanted to
protect Beth and Jamison at all costs, but his biggest concern is what would
happen when
Petofi realized that he was working against him.
