Winds of Change Part 1

"Aunt Abigail. What are YOU doing here?" the man asked who had a few seconds before been lying in a coffin in the basement of the Old House, and now stood shutting the lid. His resemblence to Barnabas Collins was totally uncanny. But Barnabas was dead.

"What trickery is this? Your dead!" Abigail shouted.

"Yes, Aunt Abigail. I am dead!" the man replied as he moved around the coffin to come closer to Abigail. "And I ask you once more. What are you doing here?"

Abigail moved towards the wall, her back against the cold stone surface pressing harder against the bricks in an effort to push herself through the material. "This is work of the devil! He is trying to trick me into believing that you are my nephew! But I won't listen. My nephew is dead and you are not him. You are some evil demon sent from hell to try to lure me into the devil's hand!" And she closed her eyes and turned away. There was absolutely no where for her to go. And she began to silently pray hoping that the Almighty God would protect her from harm.

The man who looked like Barnabas came closer to Abigail. He put his hand on her shoulder and said, "Yes, Abigail. I am a demon. Sent from Hell? Perhaps. But come to lure you to the devil's hand? I think not. You always did put too much credit into the devil's hands. But now,.." and he turned her around to face him. "you will see and hear what you have refused in the last few months. Look at me Abigail. LOOK AT ME!"

Abigail had no choice as she was slowly turned to face the man who resembled her nephew. She opened her eyes and obeyed this demon, looking deeply into the eyes of the monster before her.

"Hear me, Aunt Abigail and mark my words. Look at me and see what has become of the nephew you once knew." Barnabas began to smile and his lips parted slowly, opening wider until it revealed two, large, protruding fangs. His eyes were red as blood and she could feel the 'heat' of his power. She wanted to turn away and leave this place but she was drawn into those eyes!

Barnabas now sure he had control of his aunt continued. "You always thought you knew so much about evil and the devil. But you were wrong. Look on me! I am a creature of the night. Forced to roam the world in search of the blood of the living. A curse placed on me by the witch."

Abigail stirred briefly, her bold, arrogant manner coming through. "I knew that Victoria Winters was a wtich. What has she done to you. Barnabas?"

Barnabas pressed his will onto Abigail. "I am a vampire! All those attacks in the village were my doing. Because of the curse of the witch. But, oh Aunt Abigail. You are so very wrong! It is not Victoria Winters who is the witch, but Angelique.......my wife!"

"An..ge...li..que?" Abigail whispered softly.

"Yes, Abigail. The Countess's maid, and Josette's killer, and the creator of my curse that I will live with throughout all eternity."

Abigail began to calm down a bit and now stood with her back once again against the stone structure. "Angelique a witch? But Miss Winters was the one who created all the destruction. She had a bracelet with the devil on it! She must be......"

Barnabas moved closer to Abigail. "No, you foolish woman. You couldn't see the truth when it was put before you. And now I will have to make sure that you completely understand. For you are going to be the one to free Miss Winters!" And he moved swiftly upon his Aunt, one arm around her body to bring her closer to him, the other to tilt her head to reveal her bare neck. But Abigail did not scream. She stood there perfectly still, as her nephew bent down and pierced the skin on her neck with those long, sharp fangs. The pain was excruciating, she could feel her heart beating faster, her lungs being forced to breathe more rapidly. And then she began to feel another sensation, that she had not experienced before. Total pleasure! The lust, wanting and needing more of her nephew! It was a sensation that she welcomed gladly! She reveled in that state of bliss. Never knowing what love had really been, and now she understood what love really was..... and the pleasure of the body!

Barnabas released her after a few minutes and Abigail began to weave a bit, obviously weakened by the attack. Barnabas picked up his Aunt and carried her upstairs to Abigail's old room. There he laid her on the bed and waited for her to regain her strength.

About an hour later, Abigail awoke from a strange dream! She remembered being with her nephew. But wait! That wasn't possible! What had happened? Then she remembered the pleasurable experience and smiled. She moved her hand to her neck, where two tiny puncture wounds had formed and rubbed them. It sent a vibration through her body that thrilled her once again, as she almost seemed to relive that sensual experience.

Sitting up on the bed, she looked around the room. Her eyes feel upon the man standing at the window. She again smiled and said, "Barnabas."

Barnabas turned around and faced his aunt. "Abigail. I am sorry that I took your blood, but I had no choice. You are a threat to Miss Winters and I must help her all I can. I need you to help me free her."

Abigail got up from the bed and walked slowly over to her nephew. "Barnabas, I understand now. Angelique did all these things in order to have you all to herself. I have been very wrong about Miss Winters." Putting her hand on her nephew's chest she continued, "And I will do anything for you, Barnabas. Anything!"

Barnabas smiled and said, "Yes, I know you will. As soon as you have recovered completely, you will go back to Collinwood and tell my father all that I will tell you now. And you will contact that religious fanatic, Trask and make sure that he discontinues this trial, or he will not leave Collinsport alive. Do you understand?"

Abigail smiled, "Yes, I understand, Barnabas. And I won't fail you."
