Collinwood Midnight
Roxanne Drew sat in the drawing room waiting for Chris to come back from
the kitchen. "What a beautiful house," Roxanne thought to herself.
"I wonder if I'll ever live here? That is if Chris ever gets around
to proposing to me."
Suddenly, Roxanne felt and unearthly chill. She looked to her right expecting
to see an open window emitting an unseasonably cold wind. Finding no open
window, she wrapped her arms around herself and shuddered.
"So, you can sense my presence," the ghost of Angelique Bouchard
said to herself as she glided across the drawing room. Chris passed through
her as she entered the foyer, but didn't even flinch. She drifted upstairs
and glided silently through the halls until she reached the room Barnabas
and Angelique shared. She moved through the closed door and hovered over
the sleeping pair.
"The time has come," Angelique Bouchard said. Even if Barnabas
or Angelique were awake they would not have heard or seen the specter
levitating above them. "For endless years I have waited for my revenge.
I have been confined to this house for what has felt like an eternity.
I have watched Laura come and go unable to avenge my death, but now, now
you have arrived, Angelique. I know that you, out of all my descendants,
are special. Your uncanny resemblance to me, your marriage to one so like
the Barnabas I loved in 1795. I know you are a sign. And now, you must
begin to know my pain, begin to understand my life...and death."
The ghost of Angelique Bouchard crept into her namesake's dream. Angelique
was on a peaceful walk along the beach when the dream changed dramatically.
The comforting images turned to darkness. Angelique reached out, but found
only cold, damp stone. Panic immediately filled her chest. "What's
happening! Where am I?!"
"You are here to die," an ominous voice answered.
"Somebody help me!" Angelique screamed.
"Angelique, what's wrong!?" Barnabas awakened from his sleep
to find his wife clawing at the damp bedsheets with a wild look on her
face. "Angelique!" Barnabas yelled grabbing her shoulders.
"Ohh...Barnabas. What a horrible dream."
"It's all right now," Barnabas said, pulling Angelique into
his arms. "It's over now."
"Why do I feel the horror has just begun?" Angelique thought
to herself.
