Angelique's Revenge, Part 10
Date: 1/17/98

He roamed the woods outside Collinwood. He was waiting. Waiting for Daphne.
He made his way to the front door so he would not miss his chance to attack.
He opened his mouth and exposed his long white fangs. They glistened in the
pale light of the moon. He began to salivate at the thought of piercing Daphne's
innocent flesh.
There stood Gerard Stiles by a darkened tree. He gazed at Collinwood. How many
times had he returned to this mansion with Laura? He had lived such a long time,
but in all of his undead existence no other human woman had made him yearn like
Daphne did tonight. Her appearance instantly reminded him of his long dead wife.
Daphne's face, her movements, everything. He had to have her and make her his
own. Of course he did not tell Laura of his feelings when he asked the names
of those he saw at Collinwood tonight. There was no need for her to know. He
was as enchanted with Laura as he ever was, but Laura would be leaving again
very soon. What better way to occupy the lonely years before her next resurrection
to this world then to have Daphne as his play thing?
Gerard remembered long ago when he first met Laura. It was two months since
the death of his wife. He was devastated. Than Laura entered his life. He needed
her. Whatever she desired he would do without question. She was immortal, a
phoenix. He couldn't stand the thought of dying one day as she went on reappearing
to subsequent generations. Laura liked Gerard's companionship. He was so unlike
the other human men she had known. He was not possessive of her and yet he was
not a blind slave. Perhaps the pain of his wife's death had driven him to madness.
She was not certain. Despite any question about Gerard's sanity, Laura still
desired for him to remain her companion. She did not have the power to grant
immortality, but Laura was quite a resourceful woman. She consulted a gypsy
who cursed Gerard, although he did not find being a vampire to be a curse. He
loved being immortal and the power that accompanied being one of the living
dead.
The door of Collinwood opened and a woman emerged. Gerard realized that it was
not Daphne. He was disappointed, but nevertheless, he needed to feed. Silently
Gerard moved behind Roxanne, who was headed for her car, and grabbed her. He
sunk his teeth into her pale flesh as she let out a scream, and felt an unspeakable
ecstasy as he drank her sweet blood.
Elizabeth opened the front door. She stood in horror and screamed when she saw
the horrible sight.
His back to Elizabeth, Gerard dematerialized and transformed into a bat. He
flew into the night leaving the unconscious body of Roxanne on the ground.
