Elliot, Julia, Roxanne, and Jeb went to Angelique's grandmother's house that night. After explaining the situation at length, Elliot asked her for her help.

"I know one does not stay in the service of a witch without obtaining some of her knowledge. We're hoping your proficiency at magic can help us in this situation."

Angelique's grandmother thought for a moment. "The past few days are such a blur," she began, "but I do recall Angelique Bouchard boasting to me about her plans. I'm sure she mentioned the name, 'Nicholas'. Whatever his intent is for the Collins' family, it must have an evil outcome."

She gathered up her tarot cards and shuffled them. After laying them out in the familiar pattern, she studied them, "His main interest is in Victoria Collins. I feel he has a great power of her. He has deceived her for his own gain. Victoria must be the one to reject Nicholas. No one else has the power to do it for her."

"What can we do to help her?" Roxanne asked.

Angelique's grandmother moved to a desk close by and removed a beautiful old brooch in the shape of a rose. She mumbled a few words while passing her hand over it and then returned to the table. "Give this to Victoria. Persuade her to wear it at the wedding tomorrow. It will allow her to see the true state of Nicholas' soul, whatever that may be."
