"Matthew Morgan, long time caretaker to the Collinwood estate was apprehended on Sunday, August the fifth after a botched attempt on the life of Miss Nora Collins. Seen here in footage obtained from Entertainment Tonight the same Mr. Morgan was caught on video actually strangling the woman in her bed. He jumped out the window and in his confusion he ran to the front of the house instead of to the safety of the woods. There he tripped over some cable and landed at the feet of the local sheriff, George Patterson who arrested him on the spot. Miss Collins seems to be in good heath thought quite shaken by the event and she made a most startling announcement following the attack. She has proclaimed that the governess is an illegitimate member of the Collins family and..."

Carolyn shut the TV off. "David, how can you keep watching this over and over again? It's morbid!"

David sunk deeper into the comfortable leather chair. "How can it be morbid? He didn't kill her."

Carolyn heaved a heavy sigh. "David, that's not the point." "Well, then what IS the point?"

Roger Collins swept into the family room and he was none too pleased. "The point is that a certain young man needs to go to his room and do his homework right now!"

David slid down to the floor. "I've done my homework. Can I go for a walk?"

"Absolutely not, young man! There may still be reporters hanging about, although what they want is beyond me."

David got up and spoke. "I know what they want. They want to talk to Miss Winters, I mean, Aunt Vicky."

Roger grabbed his son by the shoulders hard. "Don't you call her that! Don't you ever call her that again! You go to your room and you stay there until I come for you!"

David hightailed out of the family room, but instead of going upstairs to his room he ducked back into the kitchen and picked up a coat. He made his way past Mrs. Johnson who was so absorbed in preparing lunch that she didn't notice him slip by. He got out the back door and he looked around for reporters. He didn't see any. He took one last look back at the great house and then he disappeared into the forest. He was on his way to see Aunt Nora AND Aunt Vicky whether his father liked it or not!
