Julia Hoffman Collins regained conciousness slowly and painfully as she began to rock her head gently to and fro, and side to side. She opened her fluttering eyes to the bright unrelenting afternoon sun that beat down on her bruised body as she lay from her waist up on a gritty sandy beach. The lower part of her torso was submerged in lukewarm lagoon water. The air was alive with the sound of many various tropical selections, from the calls of exotic birds to the chattering of monkeys as they played the day away free from care.

She managed to get herself in an upright position and even laughed to herself at how much the position of her body looked like the famous statue of The Little Mermaid. She was having difficulty seeing for the hot sun was reflecting off the white sands of the shoreline, but eventually she was able to make out some smaller lumps which she began to identify as some of the people who had been on the cruise. And looking back towards the water she came face to face with the horrible sight of their only mode of transportation capsized! The S. S. Minnow was a broken ship and would sail the water no more. It had been rent nearly in two! How it even remained at this moment afloat was to Julia's anguished mind just Angelique's way of turning the knife that she had already stuck in them all! Twisting and turning and tearing them asunder.
